The Future of the House of Rants
I guess that I'll finally end the backlog of toys I've bought but not reviewed... I may have to cancel various preorders. Movie reviews might have to wait until streaming. Videogames might have to take a step back because they're expensive and not that many. I mean the last game I got is Final Fantasy VI!
To be fair, it's been nearly 16 years for a tiny blog with 17-20 readers. Most blogs barely last a year. It's been one hell of a ride. I will try to reach December 31st, mainly because I've got the Advent Calendar almost done.
If things get better, we may follow close to normal. If they Don't, then unless I leave this mortal coil. August 19, 2026 might be the Last Entry.
This is not the first time I've considered quitting. Mom's death didn't help things. I just didn't think that I would be forced to shut the blog due to politics. I wanted the end to be due to my death... but let's not be all doom and gloom. When I bitch about being phased out of Super7, NECA, and Jada, that's when you'll know Armageddon reached the House of Rants.

Goddammit, Trump! Stop killing the toy industry
Hi Everyone,I’m writing to share with you how we are working to handle the rapidly escalating tariff situation. I want to be transparent and honest with you about the impacts of these tariffs. This is a complex situation so I apologize upfront for the length of my note, but I feel it is important to be as clear as possible in this difficult time.Tariffs – What Just HappenedFor 25 years, we have operated as a family-owned business under a 0% tariff rate. Several months ago a 10% tariff was enacted for goods made in China. It was then doubled to 20%. In April a 34% tariff was added to the total, bringing us to 54%. Last night another 50% was added, and today (April 9th) an additional 21% was added, bringing us to 125% total tariffs on Chinese goods. Vietnam was to be subject to a 46% tariff, but it appears that this has been reduced to 10% for the next 90 days. These two countries manufacture 90% of the goods that we sell. What is the ImpactThis unfortunately is going to result in retail price increases on products impacted by the tariffs, including new and open pre-orders. We are working hard to minimize these increases through discussions with our vendors, deploying the most efficient importing processes, and ultimately sharing directly in the financial pain. I’m heartbroken to have to do this, and I hate this tariff situation: it is ridiculous, poorly thought out, poorly implemented, cruel and punishing to everyone involved in affected countries and at every level of our industry.Who Pays TariffsTariffs are a tax on the US consumer. Foreign governments do NOT pay these tariffs. The US based companies who import these goods are directly responsible for paying the tariffs. And ultimately, the US based consumer pays for them through higher product prices. We are devastated that it has come to this, and we will continue to work hard to minimize the impact to you. When and How will Prices ChangeIn the past month we have raised prices in a manner that was inclusive of expected tariffs, while also honoring previously pre-ordered prices. Unfortunately, the dramatic increases in tariff levels has now made this approach impossible. To minimize confusion during this rapidly changing situation, we will be changing newly affected pre-order product listings to reflect our normal, non-tariff-based price. We will also add a notice indicating that a tariff surcharge will be added at the time of the product’s arrival. We will inform you of the full amount before your payment method is charged. You will also be able to cancel your pre-order at that time if the surcharge amount is something you do not wish to pay. Our customer service team, as always, will be ready to help with any issues that arise from this situation, and we will be very flexible given the circumstances. Today, we expect the surcharge may be between 15% to 40% of the pre-order price, however that could change as the situation continues to unfold. Please note that any items currently In Stock are not subject to the tariff. We are working as fast as we can to make these changes clear on our site, but it will take us time. We have over 10,000 items listed for pre-order currently, and it is going to take us time to work through how each vendor will respond to their specific tariff situation. Our supply chain is complex and we have hundreds of vendors. The timing of when a particular tariff is applied will depend on a variety of factors including import shipping dates and any new rules set by the government.FinallyI absolutely hate increasing prices to you, but the tariff situation is beyond our control. If tariffs are reduced or removed, we will reduce or remove the tariff surcharges on orders accordingly. My pledge to you is that we will be fair, and we will share the pain of this. I assure you we are already feeling significant economic and business disruption pain from these tariffs. We will continue to work hard to serve you with the quality and customer service level you expect as we navigate through this difficult time.I want to thank you deeply for all the trust and loyalty that you have placed in BBTS with your collecting passion. Whether you have recently joined our family or have been with us for years, we truly value our relationship with you and will do our best to continue to earn your trust every day.Sincerely,Joel BoblitFounder and President
But it's not just BBTS, TF Source the best place to get Transformers both legit and knock-offs had this to say earloer today:
Dear Valued TFSource Customer,
First, thank you for being a part of the TFSource community. We don’t take your trust for granted — and we always want to be upfront with you, especially when changes are coming that affect your collecting experience.
Recently, the U.S. government announced new tariffs on imported plastic hobby toys, effective April 2 and April 9, 2025. These tariffs are significant, and they affect nearly every product we carry.
This is a fluid, government-driven situation, and like many other companies in our industry, TFSource is having to quickly react and adapt to these changes in real time. We’re hopeful the current administration will reach agreements with the affected countries — which could lead to reduced or even eliminated tariffs in the future. In the meantime, we want to be transparent about how this impacts pricing and availability moving forward.
What’s Happening
The new tariff rates are now being applied and vary depending on the country of origin:
China: 104%
Vietnam: 46%
Japan: 24%
Because so much of the collectible toy world is sourced from these regions, these changes are hitting our entire industry — including TFSource. Nearly all of our items are sourced from these regions. Once items arrive in the U.S., Customs applies these new tariffs, which must be paid before we can receive and ship the goods. This additional cost is substantial, and unfortunately unavoidable, making it extremely difficult for TFSource to absorb the cost fully.
Impact on Pricing
The good news is that all in stock or currently domestic in transit products will not be impacted by current tariffs. Until then TFSource has no choice but to increase prices on many upcoming preorder items, both new and previously announced. This includes existing preorders that have not yet arrived or cleared U.S. Customs. We understand this is disappointing, and we want to be transparent: honoring earlier preorder pricing on many items is no longer feasible, as doing so would result in unsustainable losses for the company.
We know this may be frustrating news, and we didn’t make this decision lightly. We’re doing everything we can to manage the impact, including:
- Absorbing costs wherever possible
- Minimizing increases on in-stock items (while inventory lasts)
- Continuing to offer Free Shipping, Source Points and loyalty rewards through TFSourceVIP
We know this isn’t the kind of update anyone wants to hear, and we understand the frustration. Our goal is always to support our fellow collectors and maintain the quality, service, and selection that brought you to TFSource in the first place - even in challenging times like these.
We’ll continue to keep you informed with any further updates and are working hard to manage these changes with as little disruption to your experience as possible.
We're hopeful that this situation will improve in the coming months. As always, we'll adapt quickly to any positive developments — including potential tariff reductions — and do everything we can to pass those benefits back to our loyal customers.
Thank you for sticking with us through this — and for being part of a community that continues to inspire our team every day.
With appreciation,
The TFSource Team
Your Source for All Things Transformers
That means that a LOT of things will get hit with a price increase... up to 125% not just toys. We have seen that electronics have been hit by these as well.
Those jobs "won't return to the US". They left the US 40-50 years ago, because it was cheaper to outsource these jobs to third-world countries. Factories won't pop up overnight. Workers won't be traomed in a week. There are laws and regulations that would not lower the prices of items "Made in the USA". Not to mention that ICE is getting rid of the workers that would lower the prices. So, by the time "things normalize" and factories return to 'Murica, it'll be too late... IF they even return.
Go to Walmart, Target, or your favorite US retailer. Browse all departments. See how much of the stuff is made in China.
Some insiders in the toy industry are saying that the big companies are going to slow down or simply stop producing toys. The big companies may be able to take this hit and ride it out. But smaller companies would be unable to do so.
I don't want to talk about Trump, so please Donald stop killing the toy industry! (And others)

Been watching Diff'rent Strokes...
Because I finally found the series in English and this is important, since I only saw the Spanish dub as a child. I unlocked some memories I didn't want to. Like how kid me had a crush on Dana Plato but Season 1's wardrobe and haor stylists did her dirty. It also made me realize that some of the jokes were lost in translation and went over my head as a kid...
I also noticed how in your face the issues of racism were. With Willis being used as a mouthpiece to show the well-meaning, but ridiculously clueless Mr. Drummond how things worked in the real world for black people without the racial and economic privileges Mr.D has.
I guess that's why the Spanish dub changed the shows title to Blanco y Negro (White and Black). Kinda carries the same message as Diff'rent Strokes, but it's more in your face about the contrast.
I don't think the show would be able to be made today. Two episodes come to mind: the one where the Maytag guy (most likely) molested Dudley. The one where Arnold and Kimberly were kidnapped and she was almost raped. But those are not the main reason. It's the whole "White Man taking two Black kids from Harlem to live with him at Park Avenue.' The whole 'White Savior' theme would make the slacktivists go "Reeeeeeee!"
So, this is the part where you say: "I want Diff'rent Strokes Ultimates!" You know you wanna. I know you want a Mrs. Garrett Figure I know I do.
Whatchu' talking 'bout, Dingus? He totally wants Kimberly. Didn't you hear he had a crush on her as a kid?
Nah, it's Arnold who he wants. Maybe Willis to use as bases for Syrus and Bertram respectively.
Uh, can't I just want Diff'rent Strokes Ultimates because I like Diff'rent Strokes?
And your requests for Fresh Cuck and now Diff'rent Strokes aren't related at all? Right... Uhh. Just because Arnold and Mr. Drummond had a cameo on Fresh Cuck doesn't mean those wants are related or are you gonna claim I want a Donald Trump figure because he appeared on Fresh Cuck of Belair?Trunp is hellbent on killing the toy industry among others

Fresh Monkey Fiction has canceled Longbox Heroes wave 2
Thanks Trump. Due to Tariffs on China, Fresh Monkey Fiction has canceled their second wave of Longbox Heroes. While I don't collect the line, the message is clear. Tariffs are hurting companies and consumers.
We saw how a big company like Nintendo had to step back and delay US Preorders, now we're seeing small companies having to cancel products. Other companies will raise prices. Will you pay NECA prices for Marvel Legends ot Masterverse?
New Etheria Bow and Glimmer would make me, but I gave up on Masterverse with the weird releases and awkward schedules.
As of now my last Marvel Legends purchases are Pandering to my people Miles and Bully Maguire. Marrow, Chameleon TAS, and Maximum Spider-Man are on my BBTS Pile of Loot. Any future MLs have to pander to my tastes: Spider-Man, Capcom versions, random characters I may find appealing. Maximum series are a no go with that 50% tariffs.
That's not even mentioning Super7... I will still make Ultimates wishlists, because they're fun, nit because they'll happen. $100 Pizzaface... goddammit Trump!
This could also screw Syndicate Toys, especially their Double Dragon Line... We still don't have Abobo, Linda, Jeff, Roper, Williams, the Abobo repaints (Jick, Mibobo), and Marian. With the figures being $50, the tariffs would put them at $75, and the Abobos could easily go over $100. I still haven't gotten my Bimmy and Jimmy, so I can't comment on the quality of the figures.
Who would've thought that Donald Trump, of all people, would be the one to mortally wound The House of Rants... Guess Mrs. N. is going to get some lovin' after Scottie reads this.
Nintendo delaying US Switch 2 pre-orders
Thanks to the whole Tariff debacle. Thanks Trump.
According to Nintendo's official statement, the delay is necessary to "assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions." The news sparked immediate backlash online, where frustrated gamers squarely blamed Trump for the disruption.

The Liam Neeson Naked Gun movie comes in August
Here's the trailer.
I'm in a mixed bag here. I don't love it, but I don't hate it. The director is the guy from Chip 'n Dale movie... and various specials for SNL. The other two writers were the writers for CnD and Doolitle... that last part is scary.

Making a Case for the Other Punk Frogs: An Ultimates rant:
We have Genghis Frog in Ultimates. We're missing Napoleon to complete the Playmates two as We're missing the other two to complete the quartet. The problem is that we don't know where Classic line stands as it is with Playmates being a bunch of whiny bitches with the Master License.
I hope we can at least get Napoleon, because that way we can get a second body for the other two frogs. Otherwise, Rasputin, Napoleon, and Atilla will be Genghis repaints with new heads and weapons. With Napoleon around we can circumvent the whole Every frog is Genghis.
Fatal Fury City of Wolves from bad to worse.
First we had a Soccer Guy forced into the game. Now we have a Swedish-Bosnian Rando that happens to be a DJ.
Yikes! This is bad. Another core game slot wasted on a dumbass celebrity.
I'm calling it now, the next 10 Fatal Fury characters will be:
- Pokimane
- Jack Black
- Elon Musk
- Logan Paul
- Jake Paul
- LeBron James
- Bad Bunny
- Jean Reno
- Chris Tucker
- Andre the Giant
Hasbro is giving us A Bully Maguire figure
Top 10 Musical artists/groups that I'd like to see in Ultimates!
That aren't this guy;
This list is 100% Vanilla Ice free... aside this reference.I know that last week I made a random list that included some music people. It was THAT rant that made me make this one. But it's 10 Musical acts that aren't Vanilla Ice. I will also NOT include Weird Al, Fresh Cuck, Steven Seagal, or Jackie Chan.
See? Seagal is a Musical act.
And Jackie Chan will make a Cantonese Man out of me.
Actually, these don't need to be Ultimates. These could easily work as Deluxe releases. Also, I'm not saying it, so I can't get another Violent J and repaint it as Guy Fieri... or the guy from Smashmouth.
Like with Dolly, soft goods outfit for articulation reasons.

Is Mattel thinking ahead with the MOTU Movie?
I mean, do they have Merchandise plans for when the movie comes out? I'm talking Toys and videogames. We know that AAA Games take a ridiculous amount of time. Also, I'm not looking at Mobile games, as those rarely qualify as real games. Not saying any names but Tappers of Grayskull I'm looking at you.
On the toy front, I know what to expect: Masterverse styled figures with beer goggles passing likeness to the actors. Maybe some Origons figures with even worse likenesses.
But it's current year and everyone knows that toys are mostly bought by old heads... fortysomethings who are desperately clinging to their childhoods as they are closely getting to the Senior Citizen age. Kids this day prefer video games over toys... sadly even at gaming kids these days suck since they prefer Roblox, Fortnite, or Minecraft.
A Videogame, more specifically a AA Game might be beneficial for MOTU, IF DONE Properly. A 2D Platformer would be an interesting choice. A cross between Mega Man and Classic Castlevania games could work. 2D sprites or 3D graphisx with the game being 2D could work.
A Beat-em up like Shredder's Revenge or Rita's Rewind could also work with MOTU. Theoretically speaking it's an "easy to make" genre.
Obviously a Fighting game is a AA level game. The roster can be expanded with DLC and skins can be added.
So I watched Mufasa and other rants

Hulk Hogan Ultimates!: a rant
Maximum series Hulk:
Crazy movie sequel idea: Three Ninjas: Grown up
I swear 3 Ninjas Kick Back and 3 Nknjas Knuckle Up before hitting the bed. Then something hit me. What if we got a sequel to 3 Ninjas in the vein of Cobra Kai. Grandpa obviously died when the Ninjas were in their teens. Afterwards, their interest in Martial Arts began to wane as they began to move out for college. After a while, the three brothers have separated and only saw each other for holidays.
A past enemy, personally I'd say Snyder from the first movie wants revenge on the kids, so he has trained his own Ninja to assassinate the brothers. He also has tried to bring in the other enemies to "assist" him in his revenge. (More like being a cover.)
The brothers receive a letter from Miyo warning them about an assassin taking out people associated with them. The brothers have their own individual lives with Rocky being an accountant, Colt a PE teacher, and Tum Tum a chef. With these news from Miyo, the brothers return to Grandpa's house suit up one last time to protect their families.
Obviously there will have to be a ton of recast since most of the adults are far too old to be active OR they vanished like the guy who played Snyder. Also I don't know if any of the 3 Ninjas would like to return.
Don't mnd me too much since these are the mad ramblings of a sleep deprived depressed person.
But one thing is certain: 3 Ninjas Ultimates! when? Not an April Fools. I mean it for real.
