So, let's get to the meat of the review. Since it's a videogame, the scale here is 1-10.
Story:
There is something that woke up on Earth and is terraforming the Planet into a Cybertron-like planet. It's to the Autobots to Stop Megatron from using this technology for Evil and save Earth.
7.0
Graphics:
The Cel-shading used makes the characters look like the cartoons, while the backgrounds mimic the old hand drawn backgrounds from the Cartoon. Though I'm angry that Megatron did NOT transform into a Gun like his G1 version. Here he was a Tank.
9.0
Sounds and music:
The music TRIES to be SIMILAR to the 80s but it's not. The synthesizers are there, the 80s sounding music is there, but it's NOT the music from the cartoons. This is noticeable when a Transition is done, it DOESN'T Sound like the Transition sound.
Now the Voices: they got as many G1 Voice Actors as Possible, Peter Cullen is Optimus Prime, Dan Gilvezan is Bumblebee, Frank Welker is Megatron and Soundwave, Gregg Berger as Grimlock, etc. The only real FAIL with Capital FAIL was that the people in charge did not get Dr. Smoov to voice Starscream. He'd just have to do his Cobra Commander voice WITHOUT the Commander'th Lithp!
6.5
Controls:
The Controls are mostly responsive, although sometimes they seem to have a slight issue in reacting (mostly when dealing with some quick Transformations to travel through some areas) It's not Gamebreaking but you can get frustrated when you accidentally transform back to the first mode when you were trying to get to the second mode. I forgot some of the Jumps... Ugh!
8.0
Gameplay:
You can use about 4-5 Autobots (Bumblebee, Grimlock, Sideswipe, Wheeljack) but I went through the entire game* as Optimus Prime.
*=The game forces you to use Bumblebee and Sideswipe. you go through levels destroying the evil forces of the Decepticons. Sometimes you brawl, sometimes you just transform and roll out while avoiding or chasing Decepticreeps! Sometimes you have to do some weird puzzles and Platforming.
7.0
Overall:
The game gets a 7.5 which is not bad. There's a few things that could have been better, but at least the game is enjoyable.
Thanks, Rainbow Dash for putting it perfectly! But one main issue that I have is that the game was MISSING something... I wish I knew what it was.
Something to make the battle for Earth's fate more relevant.
