I know I always come back to the 4 brothers, but hear me out... Undercover Raph's the only Undercover turtle we might get, due to the Nick/Playmates possible embargo situation. So, how do we rerelease the guys without it feeling like we're tripple-dipping? I mighr have the answer.
Enter the Brown pads and belt redecos for the main bodies. Figures should come with the standard vintage head... their skintones should follow the preexisting coloring pattern. (Leo olive, Donatello brown, Raphael Light green, Michelangelo forest green)
-But Nefty, you keep selling those brown belts and pads idea ALL the time...
Indeed I do, because they're a reasonable redeco for the main 4... but I'm going to assume that preexisting toy accessories can cause no trouble, so I don't have to pull off a new belt for characters like Raphael... Prehaps new knots at the front... whether tied as a not or held together by a different buckle, I'll leave that to Super7. Let's assume we get a different knot/buckle...
Leonardo:
3 Heads:
Normal vintage head
Undercover Raph head in Leonardo colors
Vintage head in Mirage red.
So, the obvious second head and new accessory is now obvious. The trenchcoat from Undercover Raph. All 4 turtles get the UC head and the trenchcoat.
-Sewer Samurai swords, kunai and climbing claws.
-Slam Dunk Don pointing hand.
-standard hands.
-Ninja Scroll (not the anime, but a nod to the forst game's scroll item) both rolled up and opened up.
-cane sword like Zatoichi's.
Donatello:
3 heads:
Vintage, Mirage red repaint of vintage, UC Raph alternate head.
Trenchcoat
-standard hands and SD Don pointing hand.
-UC Raph Night Vision goggles
-brand New Explosive device.
Yes, that explosive device from the Damned Dam Level...
-"collapsible Bo staff" in both collapsed and extended mode.
For Raphael we're doing things a bit different:
3 heads:
Vintage Raph, UC Raph, and Rocking Leo closed eyes head.
-Trenchcoat
-The standard Raphael hands, SD Don point hand.
-standard Sai, extra harder sai to hold a...
-pizza slice with with hole in it.
- mostly whole pizza minus a slice.
-pair of bladed boomerangs (nod to the first game boomerang)
Michelangelo:
3 heads:
Normal, Mirage, UC Raph alt. Head.
-Trenchcoat
-standard hands, SD don pointing finger hand.
-Nunchucks with real string.
-stack of closed pizza boxes, and a single closed pizza box (similar to vanilla Mikey pizza box)
The idea behind these is that there is no "definitive" version they are based on. There are plenty of elements from "other media" that makes the reuse from some of the preexisting parts. The Ben Grimm inspired disguise has been used by the turtles in multiple media. This is not exclusive to Playmates Toys. I added a couple of accessories that make reference to the first video game on the NES, because I thought they were neat additions. The reason I'm keeping the Toy colors while delivering pseudo Mirage and movie variants... with the modern heads from the first release, you can have more accurate pseudo 2003 Turtles, which was my ulterior motive.
The accessories, for the most part are intended to be reused as extra items on future figures or accessory packs.
For example, bringing the Sewer Samurai Weapons (Minus the climbing claws) and the new extendable bo, are meant to bring new weapons for the foot Soldiers. I would add new nunchucks OR an actual sansetsukon (3 segment staff) for them. Maybe a pair of new Jitte instead of Sai... most of these are based on the arcade games Foot soldier weaponry.
I'd toss in 2 Damned Dam bombs to the pack and 2+ Roadkill Rodneys. Of course, this accessory pack would be part of a mini wave of Foot Soldier variants to army build. Won't go into the details since we already know what variations I'm going with. (Foot Ninja with the headband, and Shredder elite with cape, straw hat and mask)
Whohohoa! Hold it right there, Buster! You just had an idea... instead of releasing these variants, Super7 could do an upgrade pack for the existing TMNT... Because it would be a bit unfair of them to make you rebuy the same figures all over again...
4 heads, all of them being UC Raph heads in each turtle's colors.
4 trenchcoats
4 hands per turtle
(SD Don pointing finger hand, new Hang ten hand, and their mirrored counterparts)
8 Kunai (2 per Turtle)
Turtle Communicator for Michelangelo (open and closed)
2 Sewer Samurai swords for Leo
2 Twirling nunchucks for Mike (like Panthro's but Mike sized)
Twirling Bo effect for Don
2 Twirling Sai effect for Raph
-Uh, Nefty, why dies the accessory pack ha e different items than the standard release?
Oh, do they? Oh well... that's because, so you see, uh... it's simple. These would be staggered releases. Like say the Accessory pack is presold on January. On September, the new Turtles are presold, but the accessory pack is meant for the OG release of the turtles, while the Brown Pad redecos are for newcomers and completists.
I understand that this is a total dick move, but it makes toy company sense, not customer sense.
