It came from the Toy Chest: Now you face DOOM!!

1996 second half of the year... I was in nith grade. My orthodontist had moved his office to Plaza Las Américas, the first indoor Mall in Puerto Rico and Largest Mall in the Caribbean. I usually was picked up by my father, since these medical visits ushered my weekends with him. This meant movie money, arcade money, 3 for $10 ToyBiz pre-ML era figures, and Marvel Comics money. Super Street Fighter II, KOF 95, shortly before X-men vs Street Fighter and Darkstalkers 3 appeared on the scene, there was a game that drew my attention... no it wasn't X-men: Children of the Atom... Spike! Roll the clip!

Marvel Superheroes drew my teenage eyes and took a lot of quarters from me. Since, I had a retro Doctor DOOM and I just got the Marvel Legends "Infinity War" Thanos, I thought to myself: Why not review these two as part of a tribute to Marvel Superheroes? Here's part 1 of Said Tribute: Doctor DOOM!

Victor von Doom: Scientist, Dictator, Sorcerer, best son in the Universe.  This figure is in essence the same as the Super Skrull wave Doctor DOOM but with a little cloth piece on his neck. And if I were lazy I would just li k the old review and call it a day.

Articulation
Nothing has changed from this figure to the previous version of Doctor Doom. He possesses a decent range of articulation slightly hindered by his long skirt. I'm a bit disappointed at his inability to sit on a theoretical Latverian throne. Unaware that the old Marvel select figure had a throne but I never saw that figure in person.
5.0

Paint and sculpt
The sculpt it's the exact same as the previous version since this is just a glorified repaint. While some details like Belton rivets are unpainted on this figure The Brighter colors make him look a bit better than the modern version of Doom.

Like I mentioned on the previous version I might need to get some gold paint to touch up the embossed letter D on his gun holster. I'm currently deciding whether or not I'll paint the straps and the rivets. At first I was thinking of removing the silly Cloth piece, but I ended up liking it a bit more that I thought I would.
5.0
I'm aware of the Photon Array being pink in the games, but he has green effects, so I improvised.

Accessories
We lose the modern head but we gain other stuff.
-The Darkhold, and a book with the insignia of the Sanctum Sanctorum

-An Ultimate Nullifier in black
2 booster effects for the theusters on Doom's back
-2 Extra hands
-A Mauser-like gun
-2 magic effects in green
He has far more stuff than the Super Skrull wave Doctor DOOM.
5.0

Overall:
Based on my rudimentary scoring process, Doctor DOOM gets a 5.0 as his final score.

Saying that I had a lot of fun taking pictures of this figure is an understatement. The only way to improve upon this figure is to have multiple hands and additional heads. Since Doctor Doom can be a little bit overdramatic multiple hands would allow for more expressions. And for the extra heads I'm thinking normal Victor Von Doom without any armor on his face,  an armored Victor with a removable faceplate (like the old ToyBiz Doom)
