Multipacks are a nice way to sneak in some obscure choices that wouldn't make it on their own. Or a way to "refresh" some older figures without clogging actual waves with "variants or redecos". But in this day and age, you can't simply toss in 5 different figures and call it a day...
Yes, this is a complaint about the recent Marvel Legends Wolverine 5 pack on Amazon. Callisto, Mastermind, Cyber, Omega Red, and Wolverine... it simply doesn't make sense.
If they wanted to give us an Omega Red and a Wolverine, here's a Multipack idea:
Team X vs Omega Red and one of the Accessories is the Carbonadium Synthesizer.
Wyngarde could have easily come in a two pack with Dark Phoenix... it's another chance to get dark Phoenix and we get an excuse for Mastermind and we could have the illusion face and the real face for him. Hell, throwing him in a 3 pack with 2 Hellfire guards could've worked.
Callisto is super easy... Punk Storm, or a modified Storm with Warpath 2 pack...
Heck, we could pair her up with some Morlocks, including A version of Marrow.
Cyber, well, he COULD'VE worked as a single figure, but pairing him with Wolverine makes more sense... or throw a curveball and release him with Genesis.
My point is that many of these characters could have been released in multi packs that make sense. You can't just throw Spider-Gwen, Valerie Cooper, Pepper Potts, Willie Lumpkin, and Generation X Banshee and expect us to buy the set. Also, the $121 plus shipping, handling and taxes made this set skippable, despite me wanting Callisto and Cyber.
