Hasbro made the 20 years of Marvel Legends wave to celebrate 20 years of Marvel Legends. I have Iron Man. But there is also the AI Tony Stark, whose sculpt is remarkably similar to the 20 years Iron Man. It's like they're the same figure... They're not.
Articulation
Both Tonys have the same articulation. The only difference lies in the crotch. AI Tony has 2 Backup Batteries/Power pods that hinder his articulation. IIRC, the ToyBiz figure had them hanging a bit higher so they wouldn't block Leg articulation. The 20 years of Marvel Legends doesn't have the pods.
20th: 4.5
AI: 4.0
Paint and sculpt
Both figures share the same body. Crotch, head, and Reactor are the differences between them.
The 20th is based on the ToyBiz Series 1 Variant of Iron Man, sporting the Model 2 Armor.
The AI Tony is sporting an armor based on the Model 4 Armor, which was the Standard release for ToyBiz Series 1 of Marvel Legends.
Paintwise, the only difference is that Model 2 has darker reds than Model 4.
I have to wonder if any Latin American fans noticed that the Classic Tony Stark head resembles Pepe Cortisona from Condorito.

AI: 5.0
20th is using both his repulsors and the AI repulsors to have all thrusters active. |
Accessories
Here it isn't fair to compare them, because Model 2 is a Deluxe figure, while Model 4 was a standard release with a BAF.
Both figures have extra fists, repulsor blasts, and an Alternate Tony Stark head. 20th Anniversary wave IM has a classic Tony Stark head, while AI Tony has a modern Tony head in Holographic Blue.
Now where 20th anniversary beats the AI Tony is in the "deluxe extras":
2 Smoke effects and a plastic stand with a crappy piece of cardboard with imagery reminiscent of the ToyBiz Stand and the comic that used to come with Marvel Legends.
20th: 4.5
AI: 4.5
AI: What do you mean I can't get drunk. 20th: You're an AI based on me... you aren't me. AI: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! |
Overall
Obviously the 20th Anniversary is the Superior figure, but despite some limitations, I prefer the AI Tony figure as the "Classic" Iron Man.
