The Last of Us 2 leaks killed my interest in the game.

I  am not calling for a boycott. Those rarely work on videogames. I will simply explain WHY The Last of Us 2 no longer interests me.

There will be spoilers after the jump, but for the spoiler free version this is the gist of it: The focus of the story based on the leaks is going in a direction that doesn't sound "fun", "entertaining" or "appealing" to me. Many of the choices made by Neil Druckmann were following the guidelines from a certain scam artist media critic that I dislike due to her intellectually dishonest arguments.



Now for the spoilerized part of the rant.
The first part of the game you play as Ellie,  killing some firefly cultists or something like it. Joel gets unceremoniously killed by new character Abby, who the internet claims is a transgender woman. (Or what 'Nita believes a Strong Female character should be) then you play as Abby as you hunt down Ellie.

The big shocker is not Joel dying. That, was completely expected. Putting us in the shoes of his killer as we hunt down Ellie is the shocker and many people have been turned off by this. The whole habing to hunt down someone we care about is kinda dickish. Feels like a big screw you to fans of the first game.

After you, the player, decides to screw over humanity to save Ellie, now you're hunting her down. It's not so much that they die, but that WE, THE PLAYERS KINDA KILL THEM. It was done on purpose for a lazy eye for an eye leaves the world blind message.

Then there's the whole being woker than the inhabitants of Wokeistan angle that defeats their own progressiveness. Think about it, they have either a very masculine looking woman or a transgender woman hunting down lesbian or bisexual woman. Let it sink in no matter how you slice it a character that Happens to be part of the LGBTQ is a villain.

Abby is the evils of Third and Fourth Wave Feminism in a nutshell: A Masculine looking woman who hates White Men because Patriarchy and hates Femininity almost as much. And this is dangerous territory... because I don't believe that Women should be man-like to be powerful. I don't see the logic in that... On one hand, Men are severely problematic due to their nature, but empowering women means making them more like men... I can't support that line of thought.

The gameplay is probably good, but assuming the leaks are true, then the game is not for me... if you wanna enjoy it, go for it... but so far I'll sit this one out.

I COULD change my mind in the future IF the actual story is not what was revealed on the leaks. I could end up getting it a couple of years later when it's in the "greatest hits" red band box... but pay $60 for a game with 'Nita's bullshit? No thanks!
