I know Kubrick is a great filmmaker, but there is a truth that many people choose not to hear. His movies are great from a technical and performance perspective, but they can feel disjointed and with bad pacing. It's a shame because I like his movies, but the older I get the less interested I am in sitting through the whole thing.
Teenage me could see The Shining in one sitting. Forties me needs 2 nap breaks.
Teenage me could see Fullmetal Jacket in one sitting.
Nowadays I don't male it to this scene. I stop the movie when Kingpin Dies.
Not even the promise of Nicole Kidman's boobs would make me watch Eyes Wide Shut.
Even the infamous Kubrick/Spielberg collaboration is a movie that I can't watch in its entirety because it makes me want to kill myself... the one with the Osment kid... the one with the Keyblade.
Guess that with old age I've become more irritable.
