It's time to let the franchise die. Not only that, but it felt wrong. Like Ghostbusters 2 on crack. Or an episode of The Real Ghostbusters with Teenage Lesbian Ghost Romance... heavily censored to avoid critics... I mean borderline "Amara and Michelle are cousins" level of censorship. I have a faulty gaydar but while watching that movie LESBIANS kept popping up on my faulty gaydar. Before anyone starts to say: "She's a minor!" or "stop sexualizing a child!" The movie also felt castrated as if to appeal kids. I know Ghostbusters 2 was made more in line with The Real Ghostbusters. This one makes Ghostbusters 2 feel like the first Ghostbusters. This movie is like Walter Peck
He passed away recently. According to his family, he passed away peacefully in his sleep, which, in my opinion is the best way to pass.

Holy crap! Mr. Reitman did a ton of memorable movies and I shamefully, only knew him as the Ghostbusters guy.
My condolences to his family and friends... Mandatory, Haley Joel Osment watched his work reference and High Summonner Yuna is dancing to Ghostbusters reference. I think I should get off my ass and finish the Mondo Gecko review.

Let's ignore the fact that the movie flopped and it panned... No, it wasn't because "misogynerds ruined it". The movie was bad and it was a different continuity than fans wanted. But let's pretend it wasn't bad. Let's imagine it was a good movie... it still wouldn't have made it. Why is that?

These guys were Ghost Busters before we had Ghostbusters. Just like the 2016 Ghostbusters is completely unrelated to the 1984 Ghostbusters.
The Boxset is celebrating the adventures of Stantz, Spengler, Venkman, and Zeddemore as Ghostbusters.
Excluding 2016 from this boxet is not a slight against Feig. That would be like sayong that the Nolan Trilogy needs to include Batman and Robin for the simple reason that it's a Batman movie made by the same studio.
Ghostbusters has multiple continuities and 1 of those was heavily ignored: The Cartoon Continuity. It still follows Stantz, Spengler, Venkman, and Zeddemore, yet it's not part of the set.

SONY is making movies out of Continuity A. Only things from Continuity A will be made part of it. That means No Videogame, no cartoons, and no 2016 movie.
Unlike the 2016 parody, this one respects the lore and characters. It's not perfect and has a couple of issues, like Star Wars Force Awakens, this movie tries to recreate the first movie's magic to the point that you can Kinda See plenty of similarities between this and 1984's classic. There are a few cringy lines to point out that Spengler's granddaughter is painfully awkward in social situations.
There are plenty of callbacks to the original movie. Now I'm super torn because I want to talk about the movie, but I can't because I don't want to spoil things.
This reference from the original movie could be considered a spoiler... when another callback to the original movie happened, I actually quoted the Nostalgia Critic...

Ironically, it's biggest strength is it's biggest flaw. Nostalgia. This movie is not a "starting point" for a franchise despite being "a starting point" for the next generation. And of course, it's getting unfair criticism because it ignores the 2016 parody. Just watch the movie.
Beloved Animal Expert Jack Hanna from public life around last year. Sadly, he's suffering from dementia and possibly Alzheimer's disease. I feel for his family, since this combination is devastating for both the person suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's disease and for the family. I can't imagine the feeling for the person who is cursed by this horrible combination. The closest thing I can personally relate to is my grandmother, who suffered from this combo and in a moment of lucidity, she told me that she wanted to die. I'm crying as I'm writing this, because it brought back painful memories. So I can somewhat understand how hard it must be for Mr. Hanna's immediate family. Especially since he's a beloved personality due to his pro-animal activism and raising awareness of the need to protect these majestic creatures.
I remember Mr. Hanna from his various appearances on multiple talk shows raising awareness for the conservation of various forms of wildlife. Especially on Maury... it was a blessing to have Jack Hanna on a Maury episode and take a break from crotch goblins from Hell needing Boot camp, or women who were unsure who their baby's father is.
Here's hoping that his family can have the strength needed in these tough times. And, I know this can sound awful, but I mean it in the most merciful way: May Jack Hanna go in his sleep before his mental health deteriorates to the point of him wishing he was dead in a small moment of clarity.
I could make a reference at his VA making a redhead so moist that she traded her voice for a pair of nice legs to marry him and give birth to Tara Strong.
Or that he was Prince Charming and was married to Black Cat... I mean Dr. Naomi Hunter... Cinderella.
My brain shorts out watching the Brady Bunch movies and hearing Peter Parker instead of Greg Brady.
After spending 20 minutes I found a 90s Spidey clip that the audio is not too altered in pitch and speed, so you can appreciate Chris Barnes's voice.

There's also a Marvel Legends styled line of first movie Ghostbusters. Unenthusiastic yippee... I mean we got the Mattel Line from 10 years back, diamond select gave us seven in versions of both movie and real Ghostbusters... another 6-inch movie line is meh for me. There could be potential for custom fodfer if the proton packs are removable. We also get a Gozer, which I must say it's kind of cool.

On the MARVEL LEGENDS area, my Wallet FINALLY gets a break! Stupid Venomized wave is stupid.
Red Hulk is a Target exclusive which means I won't be able to get him unless I spend extra money to buy in from third parties. They're also re-releasing monster Venom in Eddie colors. I find out about this when I start Bell repainting the monster Venom into an Eddie Venom damn it!
Now all we have to do is wait for it toys for to officially start and we can get official images on these Anna may be something more morphinominal.

The Joes have gotten the Fork Knife treatment... and after that Snake Eyes showed so much potential.
DON'T get me wrong: They're not horrible. it's just that the redesign don't feel like they captured the characters. There are elements of the character that you can use to easily identify them but they feel off.
let's use Roadblock as an example: He is obviously inspired by the second version of Roadblock, but he feels off.
Same thing with Scarlett. She's obviously inspired by her Resolute Version, but not quite there.
I'm not asking for them to redo A Real American Hero, but everyone knows that would be their biggest seller if they do 6-inch A Real American Hero. These are possible but they would require some serious repainting in order to make them good.

I need to set things straight. I disliked GB 2016 because it wasn't a good movie. I was against the ALL-FEMALE cast because it wasn't an organic decision. It was a decision mandated by the studio from the get-go. Then they chose the director poorly. Instead of making a paranormal mobie with comedic elements peppered in; he made a comedy with paranormal elements instead. We saw the results. Now SONY is trying to recatch Lightning in a bottle.
They couldn't do it with the sequel (which was slightly toned down and it played it a bit too safe.) They didn't with the gross-out comedic reboot. Now they expect to catch it with Children... Spoilers: They won't. Simply because Children are a gimmick inspired by the GB tribute on Stranger Things. The tribute WORKED FOR Stranger Things BECAUSE it was a Tribute. Having the actual Busters be kids doesn't work, because of the same reasons the Orkin Man isn't the Orkin Child.
Now, I agree on passing the torch to a new Generation... I was expecting College Aged Students

Ah, yes, Ghostbusters. How would I do it? Well, I'd take SOME inspiration from Extreme GB, but not have it be Extreme GB.
So after the Vigo incident, paranormal activity spikes up across the country and Venkman tries to open up franchises. The niggest 3 being managed bu Original GB. Business booms until the late 90s when Spengler's New team on New York captured an important ghost whose name I don't know. One of these new Busters died (Probably Eduardo) to save the world. After that incident paranormal activity across the globe begins to die down. The GB are basically retired. Egon remained at the firehouse in New York city to take care of the North Eastern Containment Unit.
Ray moved to somewhere on the Bible Belt where the former GB HQ was turned into a Museum/Occult bookstore.
Venkman and Zeddemore... well more Winston, (who got his Ph. D after his life as a Ghostbuster) than Venkman take care of the West Containment Unit. Peter lost sight of what being a Ghostbuster meant and basically has been attempting to whore out the GB brand. The 2016 movie was Venkman's attempt to have a "version" of the Gozer incident "edited for the sake of storytelling and entertainment" with names changed due to interference by the Government. (Namely Walter Peck)
Egon (voiced by Maurice LaMarche) passed away quietly. His ghost kept working at the Firehouse for a few weeks until he realized his own passing. Egon attempts to contact The remaining Busters. (Namely, the remaining originals, and surviving members of NY Team2) Only Ray and Kylie answer the call. (Yes, I'm kinda making Extreme canon) Now they have to train a new team of Busters to stop a new Ghostly menace that is threatening to overthrow the balance between life and death Starting with the Members of the Ghostbusters. (If Bill Murray wants to be a dick, he can be killed off-screen and have his ghost be played by Dave Coulier.)
The team would be 6 busters, some might be the (adult) kids of some of the Busters from the other Franchises. There would be visual diversity AND Diversity of opinion amongst the team.
The villain's plan could be something about sacrificing the souls of thoae who slayed Gozer and their progeny (not genetic) to bring back the Ancient Summerian deity. This causes the new team to be split in 2 as they trot across the US to save the Ghostbusters from certain doom (and the world). For the final showdown, you have Original Busters, Kylie (representing the toons and 2nd Generation busters), the New Busters stopping this great evil. If Leslie Jones hadn't fired off the handle, the 2016 Busters would've gotten a cameo as well... (they would acknowledge that they are actors who played GB on the screen, but once a Ghostbuster, always a Ghostbuster.)
I'd end the movie with the Original Busters riding off inyo the sunset on Ecto-1 with Kylie becoming the de facto chief of GB
Would this idea be good? I have no clue. The idea was insoired in Aykroyd's plans of having a GB "universe". Instead of simply tying it down to movies; I attempted to make space for a multimedia Universe... Toons, comics, movies, videogames... You name it.
The main problem with Ghostbusters is that the movie itself was a fluke. No matter how you try to reinvent the wheel, itl'll never be as good as the first. To be honest, the idea can thrive as a series, but it wouldn't be cost-effective in live action.
Yes, I'm aware, I made the movie idea a bit convoluted just to canonize everything (within the movies) Hell, you could split this in two movies...

It's simple: Having literal children as Ghostbusters makes no sense.
First there's the whole Proton Pack issue. A nuclear accelerator weighing roughly half of each child stuck to their backs? That's not safe... not to mention illogical to have children wielding these. Then we have the whole transportation issue. They can't drive, how can they go bust ghosts?
I don't want this to suck, but this is turning into a likely suck-fest...

No Leslie, it doesn't work that way. While yes, there were some people that were sexist about it, they were the minority of the "haters". The mayority of people whp "hated 2016" was because they HATE REBOOTS IN GENERAL! Others, simply do not like Feig's directing.
I was against it, the moment they announced Feig, because I knew it would have Melissa McCarthy attached. And after seeing Bridesmaids and a couple of movies with McCarthy, well... I knew I was going to get a movie with humor so low brow that Family Guy would seem as sofisticated as Frasier. Then the "Grl Pwr! Smsh patriarchy" BS started...
The end result was a Yamcha... Had the movie been in hands of a competent director and had it been a sequel instead of a reboot, the "hatred" would've been less.
Hell, if you get a competent writer and director NOT FEIG and make a serious sequel to 2016... by serious sequel, I mean an actual Paranormal movie with comedic elements peppered in for levity; I'd watch it! I would not suppprt a Feig helmed" _________ Movie" parody of Ghostbusters.

That's the teaser. Allegedly coming in 2020 and with the surviving 3 busters reprising their roles of Stantz, Venkman, and Zeddemore. You heard right it's the sequel to GB2 and set in the original universe... directed by the son of the original director.

Real fans of the Ghostbusters are open to the Multiverse Theory... especially since the recent comic books by IDW publishing have made a couple of Ghostbusters Multiverse crossovers. In fact the 2016 Ghostbusters even met the original Ghostbusters widely say IDW comic book version of the original Ghostbusters dance there are multiple Dimensions even one crossover now that it has like The Real Ghostbusters cartoon with the IDW Ghostbusters with the 2016 Ghostbusters and pretty much every Ghostbusters in any continuity coming together.
Not to mention that Dan Aykroyd and Amy Pascal from Sony have also hinted at a Ghostbusters Cinematic Universe spanning across Dimensions timelines etcetera etcetera.
Besides I don't know why they are complaining it we already know that Aykroyd Hudson and Murray are getting old and going to deal with them getting old and passing on the torch when new team of Ghostbuster. IT'S most likely is going to be the most Progressive team ever having men, women, possibly a dude in a wheelchair... wait is this extreme Ghostbusters? Oooh snap! A cartoon was more Progressive than the 2016 movie will you look at that?
There are some franchises universes that you can reboot easily and there will be no problem case in point most of the Marvel Universe most of the DC Universe certain video game movies Etc. There are others like say Ghostbusters or Back to the Future that you cannot simply reboot because they were a product of its time and at the moment we caught lightning in a bottle and it's cannot be replicated look at Ghostbusters 2 or Back to the Future 3. What Feig did was reboot a beloved property that no one asked for. Had he done the continuation for a new generation it might have been a lot better received but they basically said screw the originals we're doing our own thing and with him at the helm we got queef, bukkake jokes. Not exactly Ghostbusters material.
With that said Reitman only mentioned that he wanted to do his movie in the original Universe and he did not discount the 2016 Universe which could get sequels.

Diversity is a "hot topic" right now. We see people "praising it" whenever a reboot is made to justify racial, or any physical changes on characters.
For example: Making Jimmy Olsen black is "Diversity". Hell, no!! That's lazy racebending to appeal to slacktivists.

They ADDED to their mythos... although some were meant as a replacement, but the GL corps can expand and accept multiple members, especially on a problematoc sector like 2814.
Diversity is not switching races or removing characters because "they are the wrong race". Diversity is MUCH MORE than checking out boxes from a checklist. When you're too busy filling out checklists, that's Tokenism.
Most modern shows that toot their progressive horn about diversity are Tokenists. Hell, I could say that "problematic 80s cartoons made to sell toys" are more diverse, than say... Noelle Stevenson's pop cultural appropriations of She-Ra.

That's right, GI Joe is diverse as hell. This was greatly in part by Larry Hama, who pretty much made the entire 80s GI Joe roster and created backgrounds for pretty much all the characters. Even if the character designs by Hasbro looked like Village People rejects at times. That is because they went BEYOND simply the physical aspect or the "social justice checkbox".
As much as I disagree with Momoa playing Aquaman (he played The Momoa Merman) the movie Justified Momoa as Aquaman by having him being Jango Fett's son. Meanwhile Orm looked more like Classic Aquaman. It makes sense within the rules of said universe.
When your characters have little personality like say: the fat lesbian, or the black lesbian, you have tokens.
Yes, I am taking jabs at fake She-Ra since it was touted super mega Progressive and all we got were tokens. Maaaayyybe they'll flesh them out in Season two, but based on season one... not likely. What's the better character:
- a warrior surrounded by superhuman warriors that have magical powers beyond mere mortals. In order to compensate for his lack of superhuman abilities, he augments his arsenal with some high tech equipment, not to mention skills in prestidigitation, escapism, basic hypnotic suggestion. He also has keen understanding of verbal and non verbal communication , which he uses to defuse tense situations via humor or diplomacy.
-Black gay best friend, bit of a nerd and may tinker with stuff.
Both describe Tyrone, the fake Bow. One hypes the character, selling his abilities and how in a weird way he is the heart (no pun intended) of the Rebellion. The other points out all the checkboxes he can fill.
"Muh diversity" is not a reason with weight to change a character. Especially if that literally changes ALL of the character's traits. You need to sell the characters, make it seem like some thought was put into the characters when "modifying them" to a modern audience. If your "diversity" is only skin deep or what kind of gender they are attracted to, then all you have is a token.
But if for some reason you complain about wishy washy race changes from Tokenism, you are a bigot.
Does not compute... wanting characters from different walks of life ,with different mentalities, and different cultures is somehow bigoted!? Ghostbusters 2016 was exactly the same thing they did all these changes for "muh diversity" yet everything stayed the same: three white women and a black stereotype... OK that was worse than the original. You get the idea. If you criticize the movie you were a bigot... in any case for the perennially offended people who love to toot their Progressive horn: Tokenism bad diversity Beyond skin color or sexual orientation is GOOD. Don't accept tokens, accept well-rounded characters that happen to be a certain minority but don't accept tokens, please!
Now Sony seems to be pushing the Cartoon Series Ghostbusters Ecto Force to be their savior. The sequel is not likely to happen... Good, cause the first one was bad... Not the Trainwreck I hoped, but it wasn't good either. I swear, Feig and some members of the cast *cough*McCarthy and Jones*cough* spent more time on insulting the customers than making a good product.
Sony is claiming that Merchandising is how they're recouping their money at best... Which is funny since the new Movie Toys hit CLEARANCE BEFORE THE MOVIE WAS RELEASED... Not to mention that the best sellers have been the items BASED on the 1984 movie... Slimer, Stay Puft, and the OG GB Toys from Mattel have been the best sellers. Meanwhile the new Busters are gathering dust and keeping the pegs warm. Heck even the company who made the recent game went bankrupt after 3 days from the game's release.
It's almost as if the fandom and people in general prefer the 1984 stuff over the 2016 stuff. Had this movie not erased the far superior 1984 movie, maybe it would have been better received, but Pascal and Feig wanted to make this a "political statement" rather than a "good next Generation" for Ghostbusters. The only way to have a "Ghostbusters Cinematic Universe" is going with the "Franchise idea". The OG GB are the GBNY. New teams could open up franchises in other cities, like say GBLA, GBNew Orleans, GB Dildo (just to show that GBs are not only in the US... Canada needs some ghost issues... also, it's an excuse to write dildo. I could have gone with Anus, France too, y'know... Then for the final movie in the series, the new NYGB, with help from the other franchises stop some powerful paranormal entity... This could even pull one or two of the Original GBs out of retirement to aid in this mission. Boom! But Sony went a different way and now are in this pickle...
I kinda feel bad for him. He bit more than he could chew. The problem with Feig's approach was that for him this was a "gender politics thing" right out of the bat. He spent a lot of time talking crap about how he wasn't going to do a retread of the original and how his characters would not be the same as the Originals. yet, this one was a retread of the original with a slight redressing... The Library ghost wasn't a librarian! We're different! The movie has no dick! We're different! It's not Gozer who they fight, we're different! Well, it's not Gozer, but you basically made a much more pathetic version of Ivo Shandor the villain of this movie... but he turned into a giant ghost that the busters had to defeat...
Then he went and call the fans a-holes... not to mention the usual barrage of insults he, the cast, and Feig's friends used on the people who disliked the movie... Trump Voter, Basment Dwelling Virgin Neckbeard, Misogynist...
The fact that it was a Reboot was the first reason why it was loathed. Then it was Feig being the director... Feig's Comedy is far removed from Ghostbusters comedy as Ford is removed from making Action Figures. Then came the horrible trailers, which revealed that it wasn't going to be good. After all those reasons we can add that some people HATED THE CAST CHOSEN. Not because they were women, but because the people didn't find THOSE WOMEN funny. After you add all those reasons, you can add the people who REALLY WERE AGAINST THE GENDER SWAP BECAUSE IT WAS A GIMMICK THAT ADDED NOTHING TO THE FILM. Now, after all those reasons you can add the "misogyny" excuse. (There is real hatred, but it's not as exaggerated as SONY was painting it. Heck! Some comments on the Trailer were deleted. The ones that had nothing to do with the women being the reason why they hated the trailer were the ones deleted.)
Right now the only good thing my friends on the Continental US have enjoyed out of this movie is Ecto Cooler. I want some Ecto Cooler!!

Now for the cons: It's a self-contained unit. Only those 30 games is what you can play with. It won't connect to the internet or work with other Virtual Console games, or ACTUAL NES Cartridges.
It's kinda sad that SEGA DID IT BETTER with their Genesis Emulator. At least THEY ADDED A CARTRIDGE PORT!!
Also, no NES Experience is complete without the console blowj- er... This!
Now a SNES version of this with Mario Kart and a few SNES JRPGs would make me bite...
I saw Ghostbusters... for free... Won a free ticket for A movie and I decided to swallow my dignity and watched it. (I ain't giving it no dough!) It has the same problem as Jem. If you REMOVE EVERYTHING about Ghostbusters and make it about a random group of people who decide to capture ghosts it ALMOST KINDA Works. The problem lies with the throwbacks and nods to the original, which reminds you that there IS A BETTER GHOSTBUSTERS movie out there. While there are some Hamfisted "Feminist moments" in the movie (like the Scene with the not so subtle jabs at criticisms towards the movie. Defeating the villain by shooting him in the dick, etc.) It wasn't as in your face as I expected.
It feels more like a "_____ Movie" version of Ghostbusters THAN a real Ghostbusters movie... It kinda feels also like Feig took inspiration from the cartoon, instead of the movies. I can't say it's an absolute Turd... I blame Thor for being the saving grace of this movie. The cast was, well, miscast. Melissa McCarthy was slightly less Melissa McCarthy, but then again, I find her terribly unfunny. Wiig was a bit bland but passable. Jones, well she was obnoxious, but I found her slightly less obnoxious than expected. McKinnon has a few moments, but felt like she was trying too hard. A cast with better chemistry, on the hands of a much more competent director and writer, and maybe this movie would have been good. It's REALLY BAD... It's a Yamcha. It tries hard, but the results are highly disappointing. I'd give it a D, but someone might be offended because giving the D could be considered sexist or something... I should have seen Toy Story with Pets instead... Don't waist over $40 bucks at the movie theater to see this. Wait until they show it on TBS or something.

His first Episode is a Steven Universe Episode... He points out the excessive crying on the show and how Steven is very unlike other male heroes. Last Ghostbusters cartoon was a Follow-up to the Previous Ghostbusters cartoon, which was a follow-up to the 1984 movie. This "Ecto force" distanced itself from the Movie by 34 years. I want to say that I'll eat crow, like it partially happened with MARTHA!!: The Movie, but I don't find McCarthy or Jones funny. This is important since those two are the ones delivering most of the "funny lines" in the trailer. Reboots tend to be worse than the original and that makes them feel inferior (or trying too hard) but if I were to watch it and happen to enjoy it, I'll eat crow! Man, Disney needs to stop Forcing Disney Channel-isms on Girl Meets World. Watched the Season 3 Premiere this past weekend. Girl Meets High School. Basically, 3 seniors force Riley and gang to "a hole". Only Riley and Maya stay in the hole, while Farkle, smackle, Lucas, and Zay try High School. Long story short it sucks on them. Then it happens that the 3 "senior bullies" were actually trying to help them keep their friendship together by making the convoluted hole thing and ruining their lives. It felt very Disney Channel-like when it was revealed that they were trying to help them. It went worse when they showed up at Riley's house. The only GOOD thing from the 2 parter was the Augie Sub-Plot.

I went from One to Three, Where Is TWO? It looks bad, lacks the wit and soul of the original, and it looks like one of those Bad Parodies like Meet the Spartans or The Starving Games compared to the Original.
