I have mentioned in the past that I'm using TMNTU to make a new Neftyverse... it's a twisted and perverse take on the universe while trying to be somewhat respectful of the characters.
I've already established The Turtles and some of the core characters. I've also read a few issues of the IDW series... (everything after Mutant Town hasn't been that great, but has warmed me up to the idea of Jennika and Venus coexisting) a team that has made a couple of appearances is The Mutanimals. I've campaigned for the new characters from the IDW continuity before. But, since those are unlikely to happen and I've already shown that I kinda have enough mutants for an iteration of the Mutanimals, I have to try.
The NEFTYVERSE Mighty Mutanimals:
The way I see this team is like this weird hybrid of Avengers and X-Men. If it was up to Scratch, it would be more like The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants and Thunderbolts. The Team itself is a bit shaky, due to the constant clashes between Scratch, who formed the team as means for self-preservation after he failed Shredder. Ray Fillet is more genuine in his interest of making the team be a TRUE Heroic team of Mutants. In the NEFTYVERSE, the core Mutanimals are:
Scratch
Jailbird
Ray Fillet
Mutagen Man
Mondo Gecko
Fishstick
Ace Duck
Mostly because they're the characters I own. Aside Fishstick and Ace Duck, the roster is similar to IDW but with some dynamics changed.
Ray is not loyal to Scratch like his IDW counterpart is to Old Hob.
Jailbird is not as dumb as Pigeon Pete. He's more like a Joe Pesci parody with abilities similar to Marvel's Bullseye (that's why he always has spare change)
The new Additions, Fishstick and Ace Duck have some quirks...
NEFTYVERSE Ace Duck is #2 in command... if Ray is indisposed. The reason Ace steps up is to avoid Scratch taking command. Personalitywise, Ace Duck is a bit of a curmudgeon who is mad that his mutation stopped him from being the first civilian pilot to reach space... Sure he's had dogfights against the Rock Soldiers on Dimension X, but to him is not the same. You could say he's a pastiche of CID HIGHWIND. Y'all thought he was going to be a Ryo Hazuki due to the Ace Duck review...
Fishstick is a Demolitions Expert, who actually LOVES going Boom! Because one of his Mutant abilities is Cartoon Physics when dealing with explosions. Like, he can go all S-Bomber and instead of a pile of guts, a soot covered Fishstick remains in the middle of said explosion. He also loves Michael Bay for some reason.
The Mutanimals have some "guests" or "part timers":
Slash, who is questioning whether he should remain loyal to the Foot or the Mutanimals l, who have helped him a few times He's escaped from Dimension X. Not to mention that his stance on the Turtles has mellowed out thanks to Michelangelo.
Wingnut and Screwloose, who in Batman fashion won't join the team because he works better alone.
The Turtles have teamed up with the Mutanimals at times. Mainly when threats tirn way too big for the Turtles to handle on their own. Like say a full scale attack from Krang... that would require, Turtles, Casey, Punk Frogs, the Mutanimals, and anyone who would oppose Krang's rule. But more often than not, a team-up between Turtles and Mutanimals involves the Mutanimals and an individual turtle...
The disguised variants would be the Turtles in their "Mutanimals" outfits. Once A Donatello variant I like gets made, I can figure out backstories on WHY they wear each costume.
Also, depending on what other characters get made. I COULD add them to the Mutanimals. Not saying any names, but Mona Lisa is a likely candidate to join.
Hell, I could eventually have Scratch make a Heel turn and make his own team with Leatherhead, Scumbug, and others that get made... rooting for Scale Tail, Groundchuck and Dirtbag.
