I know I said recently that I was losing interest in Marvel Legends, but this baby arrived at the Post Office and I picked him up. The Walmart exclusive Lizard:
Dr. Curtis Connors lost his arm. He studied reptiles because he believed that they held the key for Human Limb regeneration. Using Comic Book Science, he was able to regrow his missing arm... until Science bit him in the ass and turned him into a humanoid Lizard. Spidey was able to turn Doc Connors back, but Connors developed a second Personality, The Lizard's. In a manner similar to Hulk and Banner, Connors fears that The lizard might take over his body and mind completely... Or Connors is using the "Lizard persona" as a scapegoat for his anger at the world. This tends to change from writer to writer.
Even in vanilla poses he looks good! |
Articulation
The Lizard has a bunch of articulation. The only thing missing is butterfly shoulders. He has ball joint at the diaphragm and a reverse ab crunch like the Renew your Vows Spidey. His neck is articulated at the top and bottom, which allows for more animalistic poses. Nearly every pose I could think for him is doable. Also, the tail has a bit of bendy wire.

Paint and sculpt
The figure is very much the Ditko version of Lizard with a second more modern head. This is why he lacks the modern version's clawed limbs. The green has some subtle shading to make the scales and other reptilian features pop.

Accessories
Here's where this figure goes to crap... one fist, one gripping hand in addition to the wallcrawling hand and dramatic claw pose hand... my issue is the Mismatched hands.
He has 2 pieces of sciencey glassware but can only hold one. (Erlenmeyer flask abd Volumetric flask... I googled them.) Both flasks have Chemicals but the volumetric flask looks off. Hasbro used a plastic piece to simulate the chemicals inside both flasks. Since the Erlenmeyer flask has a conical shape, Hasbro easily added a plastic piece to simulate the chemicals. On the Volumetric flask, the shape is mostly round and Hasbro added a plastic cylinder which makes it look off. What Hasbro needed to do was:
To tweak the Volumetric flask's design to allow an inner bubble with a small hole. Then paint inside the flask and seal with a plug. Since it's painted from the inside, the same effect is achieved and the plug becomes "invisible".
Am I Really bitching about flasks? You bet your ass I am! I also bitched about lack of Symmetrical hands. My Lizard's unable to hold both flasks. It's infuriating!!
3.5
Overall
Doctor Connors gets a 4.5 as his final score. The issues with the accessories were what prevented him from becoming a perfect figure. This release makes the old lizard BaF look like an oversized piece of crap. I spared the BAF the humiliation of appearing and it wasn'that I completely forgot about it when taking the pics and just remembered it when writing the review.
Spidey: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Lizard: Really? A Sssssstar Warssss reference!? Spidey: You're alive!? Lizard: No... I died and came back momentarily due to your cringe and now I'm dead . |
