No cap as kids say these days. Street Fighter 6's World Tour Mode is Final Fight 4 and no one can change my mind about it. First, the modern controls are a way to Final Fight-ize Street Fighter's controls. But Final Fight is NOT the Only FF that is being paid a tribute by Capcom... the Other FF is Final Fantasy... ok not really, but Final Fantasy is the biggest JRPG name that I know and it has FF unlike Capcom's own Breath of Fire. Final Fantasy has better alliteration combination than Breath of Fire...
SF6WT has the whole JRPG map switches to battle mode thing or it did on its first 10 games, before it tried to become Westernized. SF6WT does the same thing. You roam around Metro City and wheter by interacting with NPCs or ambushed by enemies, the game switches to a battle screen closely representing the area you're at and the control scheme switches from explore mode to battle mode.
Storywise, the game has a little bit of Street Fighter, but it's soul is more Final Fight. Loads of places in Metro City have Final Fight references. You get heavily involved with Mad Gear, which again, are Final Fight's main antagonists. You spend most of the game beating up GROUPS OF PEOPLE. Sure, the Street Fighter characters are in this, but they're reduced to glorified cameos. You meet them, you spar, they tech you their moveset. You talk to them and use their moves to unlock minor interactions. They are inconsequential to the story. A lot of them are in tiny areas across the globe inside their own bubble. Many unteractions feel like an afterthought. While JP is a nice Royal Crown Cola to M.Bison's Coca-Cola, his look is more Final Fight than Street Fighter... even if Roided Santa Jesus is Psycho powered, he feels more at home in Final Fight.
Remember when I said that World Tour should evolve as a Street Fighter adjacent game? The answer is Final Fight. Hear me out.
Take Metro City, the entire island, not the little bit we had on SF6 and polish EVERYTHING... Like say, the controls for explore mode. Add some moves like Jumping and attacking for the "preemptive attack bonus" that we have in world tour.
For the story itself, have an event related to a Metro city Gang warfare issue and a couple of vigilantes decide to take justice in their own hands. Say, have Kimberly, Maki, Dean, and the "Avatar" have an intertwined story. You'd have to play as all 4 characters to get the whole main story. Perhaps even create some NPCs that may be important to the Avatar's storyline. Best part is that this allows itself to have DLCs with different stories and maybe returning characters, as well as some newcomers.
This could allow Capcom a chance to go more in-depth for the character creation part and experiment with the moveset modification and possibly import it to Street Fighter Siete.
