So... If I were to order Kobra Khan Camuflado, looks like I'd be either paying $61 or $75 PLUS the $25 Not going, but I have to pay for a chance to get this figure pass.
$86 or $100 for ONE FIGURE... who is virtually a repaint

Now the pain is slightly less if I order 1KKC and 1RBM
$110 or $127 without counting the $25 ticket... $135 or $152 for two repaints...

Yeah, I'm DEFINITELY NOT GETTING a Mattel Made Kobra Khan Camuflado... Seriously, those prices are INSANE!! I'm not even thinking of adding Greenamyr to the picture because Holy crap! That's almost 3/4 of a whole sub that we'd have to pay for in-full in 11 days from today...

  1. It's completely nuts. Even worse if you're international and have to consider exchange rates versus the US Dollar. Not to mention up-front payment, short notice on the sales window AND you don't even get the figures until July 2016 or so. They're being released in MOTUC packaging which means every single completist MOTUC collector that has been buying all this plastic junk since 2008 has to suck it up or have an incomplete "Classics" collection. Even next year's releases all have different packaging so you could fool yourself into forgetting about them and finishing up with MOTUC in 2015 (as promised). The whole thing stinks and it honestly makes me question whether I'll continue with any releases after my sub finishes this year regardless of how great some of the Collector's Choice and Filmation figures look. I'm sure I'm not alone in these thoughts. Also, I recognise this is one big batch of 1st World Toy Collector Problems and don't amount to much objectively in the grand scheme of things BUT it's still a kick in the teeth for most of the "fans" that aren't independently wealthy.

    1. Well, not exactly different: The Collector's choice figures (and PowerCon items) WILL BE in MOTUC Packaging with a Burst on the side Identifying the figures as "Collector Choice, or PowerCon item". Only the Variant sub-line is getting a new package.

But, while, yes, Toy collecting IS a first world problem, it does not mean that we're going to stay quiet when The Toy Company does a crappy move.

Before you consider not subscribing, you might want to look at the entire MOTUC Collection and see how far we have gotten DESPITE Mattel messing up constantly. If it convinces you to sub, great! If not, well, great! It IS your choice in the end.

But yeah, it is a kick in the teeth to most of us who can't drop a lot of money on the most expensive toy collecting months...

  2. that defunct, insolvent "con" did not order anything, we have to pay for these things a year in advance. this is just a pre-order. but they can't call it that. they should have just made a re-paint sub. but i guess digital river can't handle too many subs.
