Limited spots and the line wrapping up: Where does this leave New Adventures?

The Toy Guru has spoken and he mentioned wrapping up the line between 2014 and 2015. Assuming the subscriptions for each year reach the required level... So, if we want the figures we SHOULD buy the sub... (That is assuming you can actually afford the sub. If not, then good luck on the Day of Sale or buying from resellers.) The 'Guru has mentioned that 2014 and 2015 will be the all-star years. so, we're supposed to believe that we're getting the last remaining key characters... Now that leads us to

We NEED the Core New Adventures Characters in order to have a more "complete" line. I understand that not everyone is a fan of New Adventures... I used to hate it until a few years back. I blame the FourHorsemen and their MOTUC Optikk for making me interested in New Adventures.

But WHO ARE The CORE New Adventures of He-Man Characters?

We already have Flipshot for the Galactic Protectors while for the Mutants we have Slush Head, Optikk and Karatti. He-Man is Coming This Month. (I'll probably receive mine early August)

For the Galactic Protectors, I have to say that Hydron is the most important one. He's the Batman to Flipshot's Robin... or vice-versa since Flipshot looks like Val Kilmer. If we go by the Mini-Comics then the Unreleased Darius would be an important character to have. If we go with the Cartoon then Master Sebrian is very important to have. Even if he doesn't have that "Action figure" appeal... We have Marlena, Eternos Palace Randor and the Sorceress... so we already HAVE "talking head" characters as toys...

THAT is the biggest problem with the Cartoon based characters from New Adventures of He-Man. They're a bunch of talking heads!

Sebrian is pretty much the Leader of the Galactic Protectors, but he's got a more passive role.
His Assistant, Mara got a more active role in later episodes (but I'm more fond of the Toga look from her earlier episodes)

Drissi and Caz are more of the same... Pretty much a pair of shepherds (In reality, they're the Hidden Royal heirs of Primus, according to Jack Olesker... the main writer of the show. Something we would have seen on Season 2... and Evil Duncan!!)
While Caz has a more active role as a Junior Co-Pilot on Starship Eternia, he'd requirea LOT of New Tooling... (Also, I could live without him... I want Drissi, not Caz)

Then we have... THEM!!

The Scientists from Primus: Alcon, Gepple, Krax, and Meldoc (not 100% sure on the spelling of their names) They are like... Um how to describe them in a single sentence...
They are the Jar Jar of the show. Annoying Comedic relief specifically made for the children, but times four! Taking Scrappy, Snarf, Jar Jar and Orko; putting them on The Real World and watching the idiocy unfold barely describes the Scientists... Worst part is that I'd love to have figures of them.
No, I won't campaign for them because as much as I like them... (cause they're Core characters present in various episodes and their annoyingness becomes endearing after a while... If you're a glutton for Punishment.)

That's not touching the Robot UR and Gleep, the rest are friends of the galactic protectors like Meliac the Cyclops, The Dinosaur dud that is friends with Caz and Drissi, etc. that have occasional appearances.

The only "Core" Mutant from the Cartoon is Crita... which makes it easier for choosing her as a Core NA Character...
She breaks the Sausage-fest on the Mutant side. She also fought Mara on a later episode.

So, Core Cartoon NA Characters:
Scientists can be scratched out for a few reasons:
- 4 pack of figures that are nearly 100% new tooling. Krax and Alcon could get away with a "Teen Buck", Meldoc could use the normal buck hidden by his robes and Gepple, could use the Gwildor buck... which would still make this set Expensive and full of T.U.R.D.s  Even if I like them.

Caz and Drissi can be scratched out as well. I like Drissi. She seems easy to make AND she's got Beastman-like powers. She is rather easy to make: New head, new top, new belt and accessories would be all she needs. The normal Female buck with Teela's shoulders and biceps (with the bicep bracers in Pink) and Nettossa's skirt help make her dress. Adora's boots repainted finish her off.
Caz could use the "Teen buck" so he'd require a lot of new tooling. The thing is that as much as I like her and the importance she was going to get in Season 2 it's all useless cause in Season One she was only a shepherd that showed up often... not "action figure worthy" now that we have limited slots.

From the good guys the only Cartoon Core Characters would be Mara (gladiatorial Outfit) and Master Sebrian. She could be made with the Battleground Teela body. She'd require new head, top bottom and upper boots. (Personally I hope they go with the cartoon look of this dress than the one form the mysterious Mara Prototype) While I'd prefer the Toga look. I get that the second outfit is more toyetic.

Sebrian requires a new buck... enter the Teen Buck, a slimmer body that could help making those characters that need a smaller frame. (Caz, 200X Adam, Master Sebrian, etc.)

Now for Crita of the space Mutants. Both Outfits would work on her, but the second outfit is more toyetic... (and I also prefer the first Outfit)

So... From the Cartoon we could get 3 core characters. Crita, Sebrian and Mara. Darius was pretty much a more active version of Sebrian... without him being Sebrian, so they could Co-exist. So now we have 4 New Adventures of He-Man characters that didn't have a toy in the late 80s to early 90s.

So, let's move to characters that HAD a toy in the 80s and need a MOTUC Version now...
Obviously I've mentioned Hydron who we totally need because we have Flipshot.
We have Karatti and Optikk who are Wave 2 Villains. The only Wave 2 Heroes (that is not He-Man) are Vizar, Nocturna and Kayo... the last one is one who Toyguru has pushed back beyond 2015. I don't get why since Kayo is real easy to make and he's like the NA counterpart to Fisto.
Seriously: Look at him and he could be "Classicized" pretty easily.
Normal Human body with the "Wifebeater" painted on (King He-Man set the precedent for that.)
Roboto shoulders and Biceps.
Snout Spout forearms and hands
Flipshot's "Loincloth"
Bow's boots with Snout Spout Feet
He'd only need new heads, harness and weapons

So, we could assume that we may be getting Vizar and Nocturna... Since we got Wave 2 Villains.

Thing is that Wave 3 Folk had more appearances than Wave 2 folks... I remember Turskador, Artilla, Spinwit and Sagitar than Nocturna, Kayo, or Vizar...

For the Mutants I remember Butthead and Staghorm more than Lizorr or Karatti.

On the Side of evil we have Flogg (who should have been made before Karatti... Seriously), Skeletor, who I'm certain he's coming on 2014 since we're getting New Adventures He-Man in a few days.

My lack of Nostalgic attachment to New Adventures of He-Man makes it harder to choose characters.

Let's see:
Galactic Protectors:
Hydron
Darius
Master Sebrian
Mara
3 Galactic Protector Figures from Waves 2 and/or 3 (Personally I'd go with Kayo, Tuskador and Sagitar)

Space Mutants:
Skeletor
Flogg
Crita
3 Mutants from Wave 3 (Personally I'd choose Staghorn, Butthead and Hoove...)

That's 13 New Adventures figures that complement the 5 figures we'll have in the next few days. It also boosts the New Adventures Roster to 18 figures (9 good and 9 evil). It sounds like a lot for non-fans, but it's just to make the era as balanced as possible and representing the first 3 waves. (Wave 4 was the weird variant wave) and even then it's still less than what The Great Rebellion and the Evil Horde have.  The crazy thing is that this list could be culled and lose some spots... if we REALLY need to.

Super Compact NA List:
GP:
Hydron
Mara
Darius
1 Galactic Protector

SM:
Skeletor
Crita
Flogg

It's a shame that we have to look at a super culled New Adventures list in order to get SOME representation on the line. This wrapping-up the line leaves New Adventures in a very precarious position. If you thought that new Adventures was getting scraps on this line, it's going to get worse!
(and that sucks!) Then again, if it's more New Adventures or Glimmer, I'm going with Glimmer.
