Soem SDCC news: MotU, GI Joe, Street Fighter

 Jada made me think of Mattycollector. The headpack sold out in less than 5 minutes... couldn't even try to order as it was sold out once I got to the SDCC page.

BigBadToyStore and Entertainment Earth have the GI Joe Classified Lara Croft. $45... yikes! One must be an idiot to pay that... I will be an idiot then. Managed to preorder her.

Mattel is rebooting Origins and now they will integrate Build a Figure to the line... if only they fixed distribution issues as the last Origins I saw were the TMNT crossover and those were at a mom and pop pharmacy, not a big retailer like say Walmart.

MY HERO MACADAMIA'S Videogame seems familiar.

 Feels like a copy of the Xenoverse and Ninja Storm games. But not a good one.

Should've gotten the PS5 one... for an extra $20 after taxes and I would've gotten a version of the game with the entire 1-A class, and Neito Monoma, Itsuka Kendo, and Tetsutetsu representing 1-B... Dammit, no Ibara Shiozaki... I wanted to beat the shit out of Mineta with Jesus Plant Girl...

Honestly, the game is mid. Will play it and beat it becaise I paid $24 with Endeavor DLC...

Shame it has no English voices...

Comfort foods: a rant

 Going down the rabbit hole that was the Tradwife meal prep made me think: 

What are the top 10 comfort foods? How many of those would be on my top 10? How do I feel about each item?

Let's find out:

Mac and Cheese, Chicken Noodle Soup, Pizza, Mashed Potatoes, Grilled Cheese, Ice Cream, Fried Chicken, Chocolate Chip Cookies, French Fries, and Lasagna. These are the Top 10 most loved comfort foods.

Mine are:

Mac and cheese, Sancocho, Pizza, Ramen, Sloppy Joe, Peach Cobbler, Fried Chicken, Cookies, Fries with sunny side eggs, Lasagna. Very similar but a few differences.

Mac and Cheese: 

I ain't talking about straight up box stuff. That always got enhanced at home. Extra cheeses, a good bechamel and other things...

I'm talking casserole style Mac and Cheese. Fan fucking tastic... 

Chicken Noodle Soup:

This one is a staple. Whether fresh made, instant or canned. For the instant stuff, personally I've migrated from Western soup to Ramen... cheaper and just as easy. But homemade, I either go for egg noodle or asopao... essentially replacing the pasta for rice... but ramen win due to laziness.

Pizza:

Nuff said... also, 90s Pizza Hut was awesome! 2026 Pizza Hut?

Domino's haas recently entered a hit or miss. Papa John's has been more miss on the prices than anything. Little Caesars is just mid... but cheap. 

Mashed Potatoes:

Cue Uncle Phil

To be honest, the only real way to make them is to do the hard work. I've recently noticed that instant mashed potatoes do not work as well as they should... flavorwise. Chopping, boiling, ricing the potatoes and using the same exact ingredients, yields better potatoes... but honestly, I ain't got time for that... so I end up boiling, drying squishing the potato chunks a bit giving them a sprinkling of oil and into the air fryer. But that's bordering on Fry territory. 

Personally, on my list of non-fried potato item I have Sancocho. A slow cooking beef stew with various root vegetables served over rice... like a sort of curry. It's a set it on a slow cooker and come back a few hours. The rice gets the rice cooker treatment. While mine isn't as great as my great grandma's... eating it takes me to a more innocent time.

Grilled Cheese:

Not gonna lie, this is the easiest one to make: bread, cheese sone fat to warm up the bread and melt the cheese.

First time Gordon doesn't fuck up a grilled cheese sandwich.

Don't get me wrong. A grilled cheese hits the spot... BUT to my childhood Sloppy Joes can hit the spot... and if no manwich available... some cornstarch and water mixed with Salsa and the beef... boom! 

Ice Cream:

You scream, we all scream for Ice cream... for me this one is always store bought... or truck bought.

This is the ice cream truck I used to hear a lot as a child.

This one I mostly rememeber from my grandparents 

But the Ice cream itself doesn't really do the confort food feeling for me. Hence the peach cobbler... I rambled about it earlier....

Fried Chicken:

Unlike the US folk who prefer their fried chicken battered; I prefer the skin not to be breaded.

Chocolate Chip cookies:

Yeah, they're great with milk... but shortbread cookies, butter cookies, Chocolate cookies lemon cookies... haven't seen girl scouts selling cookies. Point is that, cookies in general give me that comfort food feeling... not just chocolate chips. Speaking of, It's  been ages since I've made some from scratch.

French Fries:

Fried in tallow, yum... Old McD fries were the bomb... but that comfort for me is the thing the fries are complementing... don't get me wrong fries on their own are delicious. But for me, fries with sunny side up eggs are the bomb, especially when the yolk oozes that yummy flavor on the fries. 

Lasagna:

Nothing more to say. Lasagna is one part pasta casserole that thinks it's cake...

And sometimes I'm just in the mood for some fridge cold Lasagna. But it needs to be homemade. Sure, some frozen Lasagna hit the spot. But it's not the same...

Random musings:

 I had a craving for peach cobbler, but I was too lazy to go to a supermarket to get the stuff... So, I began googling easy Peach Cobbler recipes. Easy my ass... they all require baking and shit... started watching Paula Deen and ended up in something called Trad Wife movement... Basically women who dress up like they're going to a gala and cook everything from scratch... fuck that shit... 

This parody catches the absurdity of the real thing perfectly.

I've no time to make bread, grind my meat, make my ketchup, mayo, mustard, cheese. I want my burger ASAP... I don't want to wait hours for the yeast to bloom and to fart all over the dough. I don't have time to wait for cheese to curdle. That's why I buy pre-packaged stuff... convenience!

Also, DRESS NORMALLY! I don't want microplastics from the beads and sequins. Nor faux fur in my alfredo sauce. Especially when my FwB is a person with culinary impairment. So I went to a convenience store and bought 2 small cans of Del Monte peaches, a glazed honey bun... they didn't have cinnamon rolls. Last but not least a hägen daz scoop of vanilla. Tore the honey bun into pieces. Mixed in the peaches, the honey bun, the syrup and pumpkin spice mix. Popped it in the microwave for 2 minutes. Popped the little ice cream tub. Was it better than an actual cobbler with fresh peaches and actual crumble? HELL NO! But it took care of my craving. 

But seriously what the hell!? The whole thing reeeks of bored rich people pretending to rough it out like the poors. Not calling this channel specifically, but it's an example of the whole performative homesteading.

I'm glad people are mocking the ridiculousness of the Tradwife influencers. Seriously, a high end executive salary is needed (about $200K+). Most of the people who are into that lifestyle work blue collar jobs and can't afford the tradlife.

Super7 Thundercats SDCC repaints

 On one hand being repaints means they're kinda skippable...

On the Other hand, these are the Lion-O and Mumm-Ra of my childhood. Unfortunately, I won't be getting these... buying straight from Super7 has become hellish for me.

Sony has decided that 2027 will be my last year in gaming.

And they are closing up legacy Playstation stores... starting with PS3/Vita. So the future is Digital Only amd fuck you and your access to games you bought... sorry rented.

But starting 2028, no more physical media for Playstation.  Remember that a few days back, they lost access to studio canal films and basically told consumers to eat a dick as the movies will disappear from your libraries... not even a partial refund. 

Now watch as games get ridiculous price increases in Digital Only formats and the inability to upgrade storage space... and watch as consoles become $1K+
