I... Am astonished! I would say it's inconceivable, but
I was ready to tea this movie a new one, but they delivered... Yes, there are various changes to the source material. The monsters are no longer people hell-bent on revenge from the mutations created by the evil corporation (renamed Energyne, because Scumlabs is a bit too on the nose) but they are the more generic Animal based Kaiju. This works a bit better, seeing that Hulk movies don't do well on the big screen... The movie focuses on The Rock, due to his connection to George. The People's Champ is trying to save his white ape pal from getting hurt as he and other two creatures head to Chicago because Evil Silk Spectre II is summoning them with a mcguffin. The Rock, with the aid of Negan (sans Lucille and no blatant MARTHA! Call) and the girl from Ninja Assassin must stop the monsters' Rampage...
There are tons of nods to the games, like people parachuting from exploding air vehicles, crazy building destruction, creatures fighting the military... Even the lady in the red dress gets an appearance!
I didn't notice a few clever Easter eggs as one of the people involved in the original game had a cameo and the game itself had a few scenes in the background.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but it WAS GOOD!! And this is the last week itlli have until Infinity War makes Rampage its bitch...
