It's a Toxic Crusaders toy... and it isn't Toxie. Dafuq? To be fair, Toxic Crusaders have a lot in common with TMNT. Both shows involved Murakami Wolf Swenson Productions.
Both had VAs from Spider-Man TAS, and Metal Gear Solid.
Hydroman and Gray Fox (Twin Snakes) are voiced by Rob Paulsen who voice Raphael in TMNT while Gregg Berger voiced Kraven the Hunter and The Pain (Snake Eater) he also voiced this Character on the Toxie cartoon.
Bonus fact: the VAs for both Colonel Campbell and Revolver Ocelot (Revolver Ocelot) are here too!
Guess who also made the toys: that's right! The kings of ⅛-assing stuff, Playmates Toys! So the whole "plays with" TMNT vibe these toys give is beneficial for me... But I need to hit the internet and see if I can find info on the character that I'll dismiss to make him my own MuTeens villain... but I need to know the real character for the review. To the internet!
I found the episode with Junkyard on the internet. The first thing that pops up during the episode is Lloyd Kaufman talking about the show and there's something in the background that's distracting me. Let me focus on the show. Not gonna lie, don't care much about the show... but I kinda want a Mayor Grody and Yvonne figures... for customizing purposes. I wonder did the Toxie toys sell well?
So Junkyard is a mutated anthropomorphic dog formed when a Homeless man and a dog were merged together by radioactive waste. He joined Toxie and friends.
Alicia: Nice Doggy. Perro: Te voy a romper bien el orto! |
Articulation:
He has Standard Ultimates Articulation. Weirdly enough, his range allowed me to do a decent approximation to the MVC Spider-Man stance...
It's not enough for a flawless score, but pretty good for a Super7 figure... ie Alice...
4.5
Nick: What did you say Puto? Perro: No soy Puto, soy Perro, wey... Nick: Licia, stand back... Perro Wey, te voy a cortar las pelotas como decía el viejito de The Price is Right. Perro: No, wey! |
Paint and sculpt:
The figure is closer to the Playmates toy, but with a bit more detail and proportions closer to MOTUC. I don't think the Playmates embargo's on effect here. It looks decent and there's no slop on mine. The only complaint I have, is that the accessories are in a single color just like the vintage toy and they don't have a natural colors counterpart.
4.0
Accessories:
Junkyard has a few extra hands, and Alternate head, a bone club, a banner, a blaster, and I rolled up newspaper with a nail on it. I forgot they made his belt removable.
He can hold most of the accessories well, except the blaster. Having the belt be an actual belt and not a real chain made us lose the potential to an additional weapon.
5.0
Perro: Me rindo... Alicia: Nick you saved me again. Barbara: I think you ARE a mutant and your power is trouble magnet. Nick: *giggling* Alicia: Screw you, Nick! I won't dress up as Roll! |
Overall:
Junkyard gets a 4.5 as his final score. It's a great score, but I feel like it could have been as much better if s7 weren't so slavishly devoted to The Playmates original toy.
