While True Lies and FUBAR aren't related, they are related in spirit. In both, Schwarzenegger plays a Government Spy who has his life hidden from his family and the job messes up with family life. Biggest difference is that there is a twist. A family secret is dropped right at his retirement.
The series takes the best of True Lies and adds a bit of absurd elements that seem to mesh well most of the time.
I'm pleased with the show and I hope we can get more shows like this.
Incredibly enough, people hated it. They claim it's cheesy, corny, and playing off Schwarzenegger's past hits... Yeah, that exactly what was to be expected of a Netflix TV show inspired by one of Schwarzenegger's biggest hits starring an aged Arnold Schwarzenegger.
I'm up for a Nicolas Cage series where Nic Cage plays the Meme version of Nic Cage. Mostly because Cage has enough of a sense of humor to play a parody of himself... Come to think of it, Stallone could be up for a similar project. Sadly, one actor wouldn't be up for this:
Not going to say any names, but his name kinda rhymes with Shuck Morris.
