It doesn't take a Real Genius to figure out that Bruce Wayne is Batman and

Batman is dead... No, Michael Keaton is safe...
I mean Batman Forever is dead...
Pneumonia was the cause of Death, yesterday...
Awful day to die, since no one takes it seriously.

But my condolences to friends and family.

I loved his work on Tombstone as Doc Holiday. Top Secret and Real Genius were some of Mom's favorite Kilmer movies and the Totally not gay movie, Top Gun. KISS KISS BAMG BAMG was actually the last Val Kilmer movie, I saw with Mom. Despite liking Val Kilmer's performance, Mom hated The Saint. Obviously I will have to mention Batman Forever... Mom didn't like this movie. She didn't see Kilmer as Batman/Bruce, but Aquaman. She did mention a few times that Batman Forever was taking Adam West's Batman and doing a bad attempt at Burtonizing.

I guess I'll need to sit down and watch Willow and Legend... I've never seen both movies to oblision in one sitting. I tend to confuse both movies. I need to remind myself. That legend is the one with the horny Tim Curry and the closeted scientologist. Willow Is the one with Batman Forever and the Ewok. My brain makes weird connections to remember things.

Super7 × Batman...

For now it's going to be a SuperCyborg Batmobile. I don't expect much of thos license here, since Todd has 7" covered and Spinnaster has 3.75" covered. .I'm not gonna lie, but a Super7 Ultimates! Batman would have been cool in theory. I honestly.

Don't see how this brand specifically could be expanded. It's just the 1989 Batman movie. It doesn't say anything about returns. Or the Schumacher sequels.

IF Batman (1989) Ultimates were made, oooh! Batman and Joker are must gets. I'd probably get Vicki Vale... Alfred would be a must have as well as a Bruce Wayne...

But Getting a Billy Dee Williams as Harvey Dent, now that's where it's at.

If this expanded into Batman Returns, I'd be buying Catwoman, Penguin, Selina Kyle, Christopher Walken... but it would be mostly for Christopher Walken. Now if they made the Wayans Robin and Dick Grayson, I'd be tempted.

You know what? Fuck Batman!

Last Action Hero Ultimates! Now that's what we need...

But we know how Ultimates! Batman would go:

Wave 1:
Batman
Vicki Vale
Bob the Goon
Thomas Wayne

Wave 2:
Young Jack Napier (not looking like Nicholson)
Bruce Wayne
Martha Wayne
Bob the Goon

Random GITD BLUE Batman

Wave 3:
Joker
Young Bruce Wayne
Alfred
Prince

Random Diet Coke Ad Batman same as Wave 1 Batman but less accessories and a diet coke can.

Wave 4:
ToyBiz inspired Batman with the rope belt
ToyBiz inspired Joker

Advent Calendar 20: Wanna get nuts?

L
et's get nuts! If you don't know this is a reference to Tim Burton's 1989 masterpiece: Batman. Now this review is for the 1989 Batman as he was seen in 2023s the Flash. The reason he is on the Advent calendar and not reviewed close to the Flash's release is because Batman Returns is kind of a Christmas movie. It makes sense to have the Michael Keaton Batman being reviewed close to Christmas.
Batman: Wanna get Nuts?
Batman: Let's get Nuts!
Nefty-kun VO: and then both Batmen went to the nearest warm Nuts vendor and bought a bag of nuts each... and yes, they used the Bat-Credit card to pay for them.

I already reviewed the Mattel version of 1989 Batman. I never found a NECA version, so McFarlane is my last hope for a decent 1989 Batman... am I right on this assertion or am I wrong? Let's find out!

Articulation:
Holy excessive articulation for a 1989 Batman! The 1989 Batman could barely move in that outfit and had to do weird full body turns.

This figure has WAY too much articulation that the actual Batman couldn't use. For that, I am glad. He has the standard McFarlane articulation. The shoulderpads block some articulation and the cloth cape doesn't get in the way. Part of me wishes it had wires... yes it's a nod to Batman Returns, but it would allow for some gliding, falling poses. I know the reason for the non-wired cape is for the Batmobile. I'm still salty about missing out on it.
4.5

Paint and Sculpt:
As always, the face is the least accurate part of the sculpt, but that's a McFarlane thing. Everything else looks awesome. I kinda dislike that the yellow belt was unused in The Flash, because the belt not being yellow bugs me too much.
4.5

Accessories:
The useless card and a useful stand from every figure, that I rarely mention because blegh!

This Batman has 2 alternate fists and his grappling gun and Batarang in silver for some reason.
4.5
Alfred: Here's your Diet Soda and glass, Master Bruce.
Batman: That isn't Diet Coke, Alfred. I hope you didn't drink my last Diet Coke, because I rubbed the rim with tissue samples with McGregor's disease...
Nefty-kun VO: Coke is not a sponsor of the House of Rants, Batman so you get Generic diet soda!

Overall
Batman gets a 4.5 as his final score. It's decent, but it could've been a smidge better. My issue right now is: Which one is my DEFINITIVE Batman? Arkham Knight's armored Batman or 1989 Batman...
Batman: I'm Batman!
Batman: I am Vengeance, I am the night! I AM BATMAN!
Nefty-kun VO: Will the real Batman please stand up?

Fuck you Todd McFarlane

Got an email notification from Todd McFarlane about him selling the 89 Batmobile today... since I missed out on both the Flash version and the 89 version WITH a 89 Keaton Batman, I thought to myself... I have a chance at the Batmobile...

Well. No. It's a Fucking NFT of the Batmobile toy...

Fans. Said: Can you Make the batmobile available to folks who missed out?

NOPE! Todd thinks a fucking NFT is what we all want! This is so out of touch that it makes Mattel's Madsaki crap seem logical.
This NFT Bullshit makes scalpers look like saints!

I just finished writing a rant about Bob Barker dying and now Harley Quinn is dead!?

Really, Universe? First you took The Bat, now his sidekick!? I feel reaally bad for Mistah J...

Arleen Sorkin, the Original Harley Quinn has passed away. No Cause of Death has been revealed yet. As always, my condolences to friends and family.

The reason Harley Quinn became so popular was due to Arleen Sorkin's work as VA. She was a generic henchwoman for the Joker that became a breakout character and a cool addition to the DC Universe. It's not easy going from Henchman#3 to getting your own comic series and an HBO show, not to mention multiple movie appearances in the defunct DCEU.

Sorkin, like Conroy and Hamill have done for Batman anad Joker, has set the bar really high for Dr. Quinzell.

It came from the Toy Chest: Hos name is Freeze but is spelled Fries

As in French Fries. You call them French fries not French Freeze. That has bugged me for years. So now that I have a Mr Freeze figure, Todd is going to release the Schwarzenegger version just to piss me off. It's maddening enough that I know that I have to get yet another Batman because of that Michael Keaton Batman, having to get two Mr Freezes would piss me off to no end.  Victor Fries is a scientist who's wife got ill with an incurable disease and he put her in cryostasis. A freak accident made Victor Fries into Mr Freeze. Now with a grudge against the world, Mr Freeze basically does ice themed crimes in order to get money to support his research to save Nora.
MF: Save... Nora!
Flash: Nora!? What does it mean!?
MF: NORA!! Save... Nora...
Flash: Nora? Why did you say that name!? Oh wait, you mean Nora Fries, your wife! Here I was thinking you were talking about my- someone else named Nora...
MF: I thought that you were going to kill me for a moment there...
Flash: Dude, I'm the Flash! I don't kill people... unless they're Hawaiian...
MF: What!?
Flash: Dude, your face looked really funny when I said the Hawaiian bit. That's a Reverse Flash thing...
Thawne VO: Don't you try to pin that on me, Ba-Flash! That was All You! Speaking of which, I'm going to check in on you in sixth grade when you had to give an oral report for Spanish class with that sexy Mexican Teacher and get you to jizz your pants as she asks you to come to the front...
Flash: She wasn't Mexican, she was Guatemalan.
Thawne VO: In any case, Barry, you will be known as The Flash LONG BEFORE the Lightning hits you.
MF: Whybare you talking like a sped up chipmunk, Flash... Save Nora!! This is why I prefer dealing with Batman.

So, with Mr. Freeze quickly described, let's get cracking!
MF: What killed the dinosaurs? The Ice Age!
Raptor: I don't get it, do you?
Dilo: What has Ray Romano done to you? I understand that they aren't the best movies ever but seriously what has Ray Romano done to you?

Articulation
Freeze has Standard McFarlane articulation his shoulder pads are made of soft plastic and they're not completely attached so you can post him with very little resistance. His range of articulation is pretty good.
MF: Put that cookie down! Now!!
Santa: Now Victor, is this how you ask for a TurboMan doll? This is FUBAR!!
MF: Kringle, the fact that we met once more is a Dark Fate... You can Jingle all the Way to Hell!!
Santa: I'm not Expendable!!

There doesn't seem to be any issues with the articulation. Even the head can be post rather well inside the Dome.
4.5
MF: The Iceman Cometh..
Iceman: Victor, please stop it with the puns...
No one likes them, hell, my popsicle is now a soft-serve thanks to your puns.
MF: So the Iceman Hath not Cometh? Chill out, gay boy...

Paint and sculpt
Honestly I thought that Mr free would end up sharing Parts with Lex Luthor. It doesn't seem like he shares any. Paint-wise he's mostly black gray and light blues which work perfectly for him. There is only one red Accent on his outfit and his goggles which simulates bright red reflective material without being metallic. It actually looks better than I thought.
5.0
MF: Batman, you son of a bitch! How dare you kill my wife!
Batman: I didn't. That was Poison Ivy. GCPD found her body and took her to Wayneyech, since it was the closest place with an available Cryostasis pod. Apparently, Bruce Wayne's butler has the same disease as your wife at an earlier stage... he needs your help, Victor. Save him and Bruce Wayne will use his resources to help you save Nora...

Accessories
Freezegun
Dome
Honestly I'm a bit disappointed with the freeze gun having the ice attachment permanently on. Personally I think it should have been two pieces that way the eyes effect could have been translucent and removable. This limits the posting options with the gun. Hopefully McFarland's weapons pack number 3 will include Mr Freeze's gun without the ice effect.
4.0
MF: Batman, you son of a bitch... you gave me the best news ever. I'll help you save Bruce Wayne's butler.
Nightwing: I get why you're here, but I don't get why THEY are here.
Red Robin: It's a Batman and Robin reference, not a Batman and Nightwing reference.
Red Hood: But Robin WAS Wearing a Nightwing outfit but in red...
Red Robin: Yes, that's why I'm here since Robin was wearing a red outfit...
Robin: I hate everyone of you... I don't even want to be here.
Red Hood: The title is Batman and Robin... YOU ARE Robin. Before you ask, I'm here to make fun of you.
MF: Do they always bicker like that?
Superman: You have no idea, Doctor Fries... sorry Doctor Freeze. I just read your dossier and your name is spelled as...Fries...
MF: You're Superman and I guess that's the Butler...
Alfred: My word, he does look like a bald former governor of California...

Overall
Victor Fries gets a 4.5 as his final score. He's actually pretty good figure for a comic book Mr Freeze. He could be repainted with an animated series inspired paint job and would still look badass. Honestly my main complaint is the gun having the permanent ice effect if it didn't it probably would be as much better as a figure other than that it's a standard Mr Freeze.
MF: Ah, my Beautiful Nora...
Nora:...
MF: Yes, my Beautiful Nora, the only vestiges of humanity in me are what push me forward to save you, since you are the light that thaws my ice cold heart.
Nora:...
MF: Why yes I love you Nora. I might be doomed to Hell, but your salvation is wprth my damnation.
Nora:...
MF: Do you want to build a snowman?

Zack Snyder blames his shortcomings on "Audiences not understanding him."

What a punk-ass bitch move! He claims that Audiences didn't understand what he was trying to do.  I've been saying it since 2018:

To deconstruct, you need to construct first.

Now, he blames audiences for not understanding his "multi-layered storytelling".
He thinks that folks were expecting some "superhero fights other superhero romp."
He then says:
"And we gave them this sort of hardcore deconstructivist, heavily layered, experiential modern mythological superhero movie that needs…that you really need to pay attention to."

Ugh! Where to begin?

"To deconstruct something, you need to construct something first."

Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice were supposed to be the cornerstone of the DCEU. You cannot start to build an entire universe based on deconstruction of its characters. Heavily layered? As a 2-ply sheet of toilet paper...I mean the little square unfolded. That's as deep as his multi-layered storytelling goes. Throwing everything but the kitchen sink with a bunch of misleading or pointless plotlines a multi-layered story does not make... using Zack's "logic", The Room is a multi-layered storytelling masterpiece. Sorry Mr. Wiseau for comparing you to Snyder.

The Congressional hearings about Superman led nowhere and to be honest, were a waste of time. Lex Luthor was horribly misused, mischaracterized, and quite honestly, was incredibly incoherent in his motivations and arc. I mean, frame Superman by using Lexcorp proprietary bullets? Having access of all known metahumans and he picks the grieving 1% orphan who runs around in tights beating up the mentally ill. A dude whose literal superpower is money... is the best choice that Luthor thought would kill Superman. Meanwhile, Luthor is also making an uncontrollable Superman Killing Monster.

Then we have Batman: Because of the77 Metropolis Oncident, he got a Murderboner towards Superman and started killing criminals left and right, yet the guy who killed Robin is still alive and kicking. If Batman were to forsake his "One Rule", in pretty much, every single universe he does, the main target would be Joker. So, murderboner Batman is hellbent on killing Superman until Superman begs for his mommy, whose name is the same as Batman's. Can you see how stupid that sounds?
S: "I hate you, you're a douche!"
B: "I'mma kill ya, illegal alien!"
S: "Save Martha!"
B: "Dafuq you say?"
S: "Martha!"
L: "Dat his Mom's, name, yo!"
B: "My Mom's name is Martha too!"
S: "Friends?"
B: "Superfriends!"

Basically, all what Snyder did was deflect. He failed as a director in telling a good story and is passing the blame unto the audience. His job as a director was to tell a story. "If the audience didn't understand the story" then that failure lies on the storyteller. But here the problem isn't that the audience "didn't understand the story". The problem is that the story Snyder told was bad from the get go. Focusing on Easter Eggs and references does not make a movie deep.

Snyder and Goyer made up the storyline for
BvS while Goyer made the script and went through rewrites from Terrio. Therefore, not only Snyder directed, but was a key player behind the story's writing. Then again, he comes from the same school as Michael Bay where Flash over Substance reigns supreme... but unlike Bay, whi knows he makes shitty movies, Snyder thinks he's the next Kubrick, while he's nothing more than a third-rate Michael Bay.

I don't know if Gunn's plan for DC will work, but at least what little he's revealed sounds far better than:
"Batman gets gangraped in prison"
"Superman is evil or an antagonist most of the DCEU"
"Batman impregnates Lois and Supes raises the third-rate Damian Wayne".
"Atlanteans and Amazons have a little Kryptonian in them. "
"The real Doomsday is out there in space."

Most of these were thankfully scrapped,  but the problem is that all those dumb ideas stem from Snyder and he gets pissy when people call out his bad ideas.

So, long story short: Fuck you Zack Snyder. The problem here wasn't that the audiences failed to understand your story. It was that your story sucked ass, but your storytelling was just as awful.

Todd McFarlane is making a Batmobile

Supposedly it's for the Multiverse figures. The only drawback is that it's from The Flash, as in the movie that kills and buries the DCEU... BUUUUUT Here comes the good part: It's NOT Buttman's Batmobile... yes, I called Affleck Buttman, it's a Mallrats reference, not a JLo reference, asi que tranquilizate Jenny que no es contigo la cosa. Sorry, but I had to say it in a way for the girl from "the block" would understand it. The Batmobile in question is the "Modernized" look for 1989's Batmobile.
So far it will be available on Target... hopefully not a Target exclusive. It's a bit expensive at 80 dollars, but it's not ridiculously expensive as the Haslab Engines of Failure or Super7's excesively iverpriced Party Wagon. If this vehicle is available outside of Target, I would be able to get one... of course I would use my Arkham Knight Batman with this unless we get a true Keaton Batman from McFarlane... I'm going to say it right here, we need a Schwarzenegger Freeze.

It came from the Toy Chest: DC hates guns, but guns ARE HIS THING

Or they were until DC decided to give Jason Todd a crowbar once again... I have a Red Hood figure... This one is the Gotham Knights version. Yes, I'm well aware of my hodgepodge approach at collecting these. Comic book Nightwing, Arkham Knight Batman, Gotham Knights Red Hood... I blame Todd McFarlane for that uncohesive approach. I'm  aware that Todd McFarlane has released a couple of Red Hoods, but this one was under $10.

I just need to get the Arkham City Catwoman, and Todd to make a Spoiler and an Alfred Pennyworth to complete the Bat-Family members I give a damn about.

Articulation
Red Hood has the standard Articulation or a McFarlane figure... in retrospect, 2002 me would be surprised to see the amount of articulation that McFarlane is currently using. His joints are a bit stiff and the ball joints at the wrists are scary stiff. Todd didn't make a torso overlay for Red Hood like he did with Arrow...
4.5

Paint and sculpt
He resembles the Gotham Knights version of Red Hood. There are no paint issues on mine.
5.0
Batman: That's-
Red Hood: Rubber Bullets, old man...
I don't agree with your One Rule, but for old times sake, I'm playing by your rules. I mean it would be stupid of me running around with a sword or a crowbar...
Damian VO: I heard that, you Ungrateful douche! MOM RISKED A LOT TO BRING YOU BACK!! I'M GONNA TELL HER YOU WERE BULLYING ME!!
Red Hood: Damn, your kid is creepy...

Accessories
Irrelevant stand and card (everyone has those)
Gun finger hands.

No smoke bombs or any of the other stuff he uses in the game.
It's a good thing that Gun Fingers can't be used for anything corrupted or perverted.

The saddest thing is that McFarlane makes a gun pack for Spawn, but customers bought it to bypass DC's bullshit. At the same time Todd doesn't give Jason a pair of gripping hands. That's how Todd covers his ass.
3.5
Overall
Jason Todd gets a 4.33 as his final score. It's a decent score, but dammit, Todd McFarlane, he needed 2 gripping hands!
Batman: Alright, let's get ready for the Bat-Family Photo.
Everyone except Batman, Red Hood, and Alfred: Do we have to?
Batman: One Goddamned Bat-Family Photo. All I'm asking for is for One Bat-Photo of us together as a Bat-Family. .. Don't ruin this for me because MY PARENTS ARE DEAD!!
Red Hood (sniffling): I can't believe I'm still considered family! Especially since the Old Man didn't look for me or avenge my murder!
Batman: This isn't the time for this Jason...
Red Hood: "It NEVER IS THE TIME" with you...
Red Robin: Jayce, he actually looked for you for a while. He even got to the point to almost breaking the One Rule for you... if you want to blame someone for him not killing Joker, blame me... I REPLACED you!
Red Hood: Tim, stay out of this. I know what you're doing...
Robin: Shut up, Drake! Nobody likes you!
Batgirl: I like Tim... he's a nice guy!
Robin: Wow, Drake, Grayson's girlfriend have to save your ass... speaking of which, where's the bimbo?
Batgirl: Damian, that's not a nice way to talk about Stephanie!!
Robin: Wow. That's what you think about Spoiler!? That's cold and I'm Damian...
Nightwing: He got you there Babs!
Batgirl: Shut up, Captain Ass!  Are you really posing to show off your Amazing Ass?
Nightwing: Of course! I've been doing it simce I was 10...
Red Hood: The whole Booty shorts and pixie boots was all you?
Nightwing: Of course! I needed to make sure I was bootilicious for the fangirls...
Red Hood: But you were 10!
Nightwing: I grew up in the circus. I knew how to promote myself... Teen titans were partially funded by Robin Posters showcasing my fabulous ass! Teen girls were crazy about my ass... and nonhetero fans too... Yo, Tim! Doesn't your boyfriend have a poster of me?
Red Robin: Actually he HAD one... I tore it after he said my ass was inferior to yours. He's right, but it stings
Robin: BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Tim got butthurt because he's got a crappier butt than Grayson! Bwahahahaha!
Red Hood: Dude, tone down the villain laugh!
Batman: Alfred! Where the Hell are Orphan, Spoiler, Signal and Catwoman?
Alfred: Miss Kyle is still at the Big Bad Toystore. Master Thomas is dealing with the McFarlane case and should be here soon. Probably a bit after Miss Kyle shows up. As for Miss Cain and Miss Brown, They have been radio silent for a while.
Batman: Another year and Bat-Family Photo is ruined! I'm going out on League Business!!

Azrael: Another year goes by and the invotation to the Bat-Family photos gets lost in the mail... Help me St. Dumas!
Damian VO: They never get lost in the mail. We just don't invite you! Now go cry to your saint dumbass!

Batman: a rant

I've made plenty of Batman jokes. Most of them stemming from his Child Soldier rearing, How he sees Orphanages as Army recruiters see High School Seniors and

Zack Snyder's piss poor understanding of Batman and Superman. Now I'm going to do something that may appear as shocking. I'm going to defend Zack Snyder's Martha scene.
Hold your horses... the defense is not that deep. The execution of the scene, which lies on Zack Snyder, was still awful. The idea of it is not THAT bad. The idea that Batman has gone off the deep end and is becoming what he swore to fight against is interesting IN THEORY. It's something that could be explored in a FINAL Batman movie before transitioning to Batman Beyond. This is not something to use as one of the building blocks of a Cinematic Universe,  which is one of the many areas where Zack Snyder failed...

But this isn't about Snyder and his shortcomings as a director. This is about Batman and my thoughts of him as a character. I'm a bit clueless on how to tackle this, since it's Batman. I have to tackle the topic I dread the most, since I fear my own demons, and how they make me feel guilty of my Mom's death... Just like I assume Bruce must feel. Think about it: Why did the Waynes die? They were mugged by Joe Chill when they crossed through "Crime Alley" (the name Crime Alley was given AFTER the death of the Waynes). Why were they crossing "Crime Alley"? Because they were leaving the Morarch Theatre. Sometimes it was because they finished watching The Mark of Zorro, in others, Little Bruce, who was 8-10 years old, was frightened by a movie or Opera concert. The Waynes get mugged and killed, with the child being the only survivor.

Now, here's the thing: No matter how much normal people can rationalize the ridiculousness of Bruce Wayne's motivations, it hits closer to home, when one has Survior's guilt. In Bruce's case: "If I hadn't pestered my parents to see The Mark of Zorro, they wouldn't have died." Assuming it's the Bruce watched The Mark of Zorro before his parents were killed continuity. If it's the Bruce got afraid at the Opera continuity, his Survivor's Guilt manifests with the mantra " If I hadn't been afraid, they wouldn't have left the theatre earlier and they wouldn't have died." How can I be so certain about this? Because "If I hadn't been born, My Mom wouldn't have gotten a transfusion with tainted blood and she wouldn't have died years later from complications with treating her Hep C." Survivor's guilt can leave some common points of view on people.

Theoretically speaking, Bruce clings to his survior's guilt to push forward. While he's aware that Joe Chill was the actual murderer, he feels guilty about being the reason WHY the Waynes  crossed paths with Chill. On the rational level, he gets it, but emotionally, he must feel like it was HE who pulled the trigger...  again, he was 8-10 when he lost his parents.  I was 33 when my Mom died, yet emotionally, I feel like I was the one who tainted her blood, since my birth was the reason she needed a blood transfusion. (Back then blood tests couldn't detect Hep C. Also. I'm going to therapy to work these awful feelings out) So, having an 8 year old feeling horribly guilty about his parents' death, despite not being actually guilty makes sense.

Many have wondered why Bruce "never got therapy". Real world reason, back when Batman was created, Therapy was uncommon, especially on children. But think about this: Bruce is obsessed with that moment. He swore to his parents' souls that he would not only avenge them, but he would dedicate his life to avoid the suffering he went through. He used that trauma to push himself, not exactly healthy, because he isn't allowing himself to heal, to let go... I get it... I don't remember My Mom's voice, or scent. I get to remember what she looked like because I kept a picture of her.
I suppose Bruce has more luck there since his parents were celebrities of sorts and he can find footage of them, so he can hear their voices, see their faces, etc.

Also, I've been triggered by people who knew me through my Mom and recognize me as her son. I wouldn't want to imagine how horrible it must be being in a city where EVERYONE KNEW OF YOUR DEAD PARENTS and always found a way to remind you of them. Especially since Thomas and Martha Wayne were borderline saints in Gotham.

It's funny, Bruce is going on a self-destructive path, but his path to self-destruction is paved with good intentions and it yields results. They aren't exactly the results he wants, seeing that there have been mishaps like the Death and Resurrection of Jason Todd, the existence of Damian Wayne, his creation of child soldiers, but at the same time, he was able to save Dick Grayson from following a darker path. He even took Tim Drake under his wing,  when the third Robin lost his family, and proved himself worthy of being Robin by rising above the parh of vengeance. If it wasn't for Bruce, the Justice League wouldn't have been a Justice League... since guess whose deep pockets fund the league?
Batman's... especially in continuities without Oliver Queen and Ted Kord.
But what do I mean with Self-destructive behavior? He literally goes out at night picking fights with criminals and some of them are strong enough to snap a man like a twig. He does this FOR FREE, so the excuse of "it pays the bills" that policemen and firemen have to risk their lives isn't useful here. Batman has fought literal gods. Can you fight a literal god and live to fight another day? I know I can't fight an average mortal and leave unscathed. A god would kick my ass so hard that all my ancestors would feel it.

Then there's all the philanthropic work done by his Bruce Wayne mask. Batman doesn't simply punch people as some ill-guided critiques state.
The way Batman attacks crime is a two-pronged approach. Billionaire Playboy and Philanthropist, Bruce Wayne makes the news by being a socialite in many charitable soirees. There he helps fundraisers to various social programs. Not to mention that he has 2 foundations working to alleviate the issues plaguing Gotham. The Thomas Wayne Foundation deals with stuff related to the medical field. The Martha Wayne Foundation deals with stuff related to social and education issues. The problem is that Gotham is rotten to the core. The Mob has its tentacles shoved up many crevices. Throwing money won't make the Falcones back off. Crazy man dressed up like a bat does. Hell, Gotham is so corrupt that Jim Gordon had a hard time cleaning up the GCPD and despite his efforts, it's not exactly squeaky clean. By simply throwing money at the problems, those who would embezzle the funds will do it anyway. By dressing up as a bat, Bruce instills fear on Gotham's criminal elements and does what the GCPD can't or WON'T do.

His Countermeasures seem paranoid, but they make sense. I don't mean it in the "The justice League are too powerful and they need a way to stop them if they ever go rogue" way. I mean it in a "Bruce Wayne suffered his greatest loss by a random mugging that he wasn't prepared for" kind of way. Not to mention that most of Bruce's own rogues gallery are Doctors, Scientists, and other positions of high esteem, when people who aren't "criminally insane" hold said positions. Or that Gotham is rotten to the core and the Waynes are the only "source of hope" for Gotham. He's so used to see the worst in humanity, so he's preparing for the event of any League member having a bad day and snapping.

Returning to the whole "why doesn't he get therapy" thing. Sadly, about 93% of people who go to therapy lie to their therapist. I, regrettably did lie to a previous therapist. I did it out of fear of facing a truth about myself and out of fear of being interned... at the time I was contemplating Soloing Task Force X. Fortunately for me, I managed to shake off those thoughts. With my current therapist, I've been able to open up a bit more and was able to face the fact that I once did contemplate to take a permanent solution to a temporary problem. I'm not proud of that moment of weakness, but I can acknowledge that it did happen. If *I*, who am terrible at lying, was able to do so to a therapist; then I can easily believe that the guy who can beat the Lasso of Hestia WILL lie to his therapist. Not to mention the "Billionaire Playboy" persona fits the outlook on life of people who have gone through a Near Death experience and have had some sort of trauma. So, a person like that would have some seemingly shallow responses to the therapist.

Out of the Mainstream DC Superheroes, Batman is the most interesting of all, due to his traumas and tragedies. Sure Kal-El being "The Last Son of Krypton" is very tragic and all, but the love given to him by the Kents, who raised him as their own, protected Clark from what he lost in Krypton. The Kents showed Kal-El the Best Humanity has to offer. Wonder Woman was the daughter of Zeus and Hippolyta... (Zeus, you horngod...) at best the worst thing she has is daddy issues, but then again 99% of the children of Zeus suffer from that. Hell, they tried to batman-ize Flash by having Reverse Flash go back in time to kill Barry's mom and pin it on Barry's dad.

His skills are a very, VERY divisive section. Mainly the whole "Prep Time" meme. It's cool to see Batman using Logic and detective-ing his way out if a trap, showcasing his mind as his greatest weapon. Problem is when his exploits defeat all rules of physics including the DC superpowers with:
"I'm BaTmAn!"
I know that Batman overplays that to terrify criminals, but when writers are having Batman defeat characters waaaaaaaay out of his league with "He's Batman" as the reason, that. is. bullshit.

Now I have to tackle THE most polarizing thing about Batman... yes, even more polarizing than the Prep Time meme...
The One Rule... yes, I'm aware that most Cinematic Batmen have ignored it. Why, say Keaton's Batman gets a pass while Affleck's doesn't? This is a loaded question. I'll try to answer it as honestly as possible. There are various factors:
-Faithfulness to the source Material:
Tim Burton not being a fan of the comics us a well known fact. He also never pretended to be a superfan unlike a certain dollar store Michael Bay wannabe who hides behind his daughter's Soloing Task Force X. Snyder pretended to be a super DC fan after he had derided DC. Remember the whole prison rape comment. If Snyder had never painted himself as a superfan, his ill-guided universe might have received less scorn.

-Hypocrisy:
Keaton's Batman killed various henchmen... true, but he also killed or didn't save Joker and Penguin. While not accurate to the source material, it's honest and consistent. This Batman was judge, jury, and executioner. On the other hand, we have Affleck's Batman, whi killed various henchmen, yet lets Robin's murderer run free. Dude was hellbent in killing Superman "because he could be evil" yet Joker, who everyone knows he's evil, is alive and kicking. If Batman had gone dark and began killing, Joker should've been first one on the list.

But enough about movies... wait! Fun fact: George Clooney was the only Batman who actually stuck to the One Rule... until Pattinson came along. Now Clooney is the First Cinematic Live Action Batman to not have killed... that means even Adam West has killed...

Back to the comics and the One Rule... For the most part, I like the One Rule. I know that it would make sense to break it in Joker's case, but while Batman's activities aren't exactly legal; even if GCPD supports them. Especially with the big ass Signal Light atop the GCPD HQ. If Batman were to cross the line, a shit ton of trouble would fall in Gotham. The GCPD would be in deep shit for collaborating with a murderer, then the entire police force would be disbanded, probably replaced by outside agents, total chaos. Hell, I'm not even sure if the repercussions would reach the JLA. To me that makes more sense than the "If I kill one, then I won't know how to stop" argument. I would also prefer to consider the idea that deep down Batman HOPES for the rehabilitation of Gotham's "super criminals" since many of them would be highly productive members of society if they weren't criminals. To me, it fits the mentality of a child who wants to prevent Gotham's children from suffering the same pain Bruce Wayne did. Killing criminals would make more kids having to suffer the loss of a parent. Beating them up keeps the kids from becoming orphans. Sure, they might have their parent away for some time with the whole ending up in jail, but they're alive.

Because the thing is that Batman is still a child. He might be on the top 2 most intelligent people in the DC Universe's Earth. He might be the 21st Century Sherlock Holmes with his cunning.  He might be a Martial arts prodigy with a dash of Houdini,  but deep down he's an 8-10 year old who hasn't processed the death of his parents.
Batman is everything Bruce wasn't that night.
He is strong where Bruce was weak. He is intimidating when Bruce was meek. He literally went across the globe learning all the skills he could to become a supercop and stop crime all over Gothan. That's not something a mature adult would do. That's what a child would do. Then we have the whole dressing up as a scary monster. That's literally a child's move.

Is Batman nothing but a chronically depressed child with severe PTSD trauma that has been festering inside for decades, while pretending to be a functional adult? I'm no psychologist, so I couldn't make a proper assessment for multiple of reasons. But it's obvious that Batman has some severe issues. They hit closer to home when one goes through the loss of a parent and one feels like it's their fault. I could say that Batman changed a lot for me after my Mom's death.

Most of DC's heroes are unrelatable to normal folks... the biggest exception is Batman, because of his pain and suffering gives the audience something to hook them in. Sure he may do some incredible acts of unrealistic bullshit because "he's Batman" but at the end of the day, he's a severely flawed individual who is trying to do the right thing, even if his methods aren't exactly right. He's one of the more "imperfect" DC characters and it's those imperfections what make him more interesting.

I guess Will Friedle is Batman now

Who is THE Best Batman of all time? I'll give you a hint...

2 months and 6 days after the 30th anniversary of the premiere of Batman The Animated Series  has brought some horrible news... Kevin Conroy, THE DEFINITIVE VOICE OF BATMAN has passed away. I don't know what to say. I mean, I KNOW he has done many other things, but my brain gravitates to Bruce Wayne whenever I think of Kevin Conroy. He was THE voice of Batman for literally 30 years. Wait, I almost forgot he played a Live Action Older Bruce Wayne for the CW.

So we can say that Kevin Conroy IS THE DEFINITIVE BATMAN... now all the voice actors and live action actors who don the cowl have some BIG shoes to fill. As always my condolences to friends and family.
Farewell, Mr. Conroy... in our hearts you'll always be Batman!

It came from the Toy Chest: Red Robin, yum!! No homo...

It's a reference to the burger joint, not that I'm attracted to Tim Drake... and no it's not homophobic saying that I'm straight... just as it isn't heterophobic getting shot down by a lady that happened to be a lesbian. This is why I hate when straight characters are retconned into nonheterosexual, because anything you say will be your doom.

So, Tim Drake, the third Robin. What can I say about him.
Dick is the Heart that tempers Batman.
Jason is the one that embodies Bruce's Darkness and Drive.
Damian is the Genetic Successor of Batman.
Stephanie... We don't talk about Stephanie...
But Tim is the Balanced Robin.
He has some of the Heart and the Drive. Trained by Lady Shiva, he can keep up with The Heir of the Demon. Not to mention his impressove Detective Skills that rival those of Bruce himself. Let me ammend my ranking:
Tim is the almost Gary Stu (male Mary Sue) Robin.
Robin: Ugh, it's the mithli aljins...
Red Robin: Actually, I'm tunayiyi aljins.
Robin: Still, you like dick...
Nightwing VO: I know Tim likes me, EVERYONE LIKES ME!
Robin: Not you, Sidekick! I mean dick like little you!
Batgirl VO: Ot's not little!!
Red Robin: Ohh Myy! Little Damian is a bit obsessed with penises...
Robin: I'm not gay...
Red Robin: You don't have to be gay to enjoy a nice thick sausage...
Damian: I don't eat meat... Oh I'm going to kick your ass, Drake...
Red Robin: Careful, that might be considered a Hate Crime...

Articulation
Tim has standard McFarlane Articulation. Like most figures, the cape gets in the way a little. Despite that cape issue, he has a decent range of articulation.
4.5

Paint and sculpt
The sculpt is very detailed. It's Tim's 90s outfit but colored like his Adventures of  Batman and Robin look. It's very bright and there is little shading. It looks almost like a Mattel action figure Prototype with the bright matte colors. I like the cockiness on his face and can be pretty expressive with the right poses. This figure is most likely to get a release in normal Robin colors, since this is a lazy repaint of normal Tim Robin in the TAoBaR.
5.0
Batman: I am highly disappointed with you...
Picking fights, talking about sex in front of a minor, homophobic remarks... This is NOT what I taught you!
Batgirl: I was defending Dick's Grayson.
NW: I didn't do Anything!
Red Robin: Your demon spawn started it!
Robin: At least I'm not adopted.
Batman: Where the Hell is Jason?
Nefty VO: I still haven't found one and with me getting laid off from my toy money job, my toy budget has been heavily Affected. Not everyone has Martha Wayne money, you know...
Batman: WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME!?

Accessories
Staff
Batarang

I already lost the Batarang... not really lost it. It just fell behind a shelf that I won't move because of its weight. The important accessory, his staff, is safe with him.
I know McFarlane tends to cheapen out on accessories,  but aside extra hands, I can't think what else he could have.
4.0
Red Robin: Bring it!
*Nefty note*: Sadly, I have no Black Adam figure for this joke to pay off...

Overall
Tim gets a 4.5 as his final score. He's a decent Robin, despite being a lazy repaint.

An idea for Todd McFarlane

Dear Todd McFarlane, creator of Spawn:
Your DC Multiverse line is kinda cool, but it has one teensy weensy affluent orphan with  chiropteraphilia problem. The line it's called DC Multiverse, not Batman and some fucking losers.

Well, I have a solution for you:
A Batman themed Sub-line... Not just ANY Batman, but a Cinematic Batman Multiverse line:
Keaton, Clooney, Kilmer, Bale, Affleck, Pattinson, and all their foes. Hell, toss in the 66 stuff as well.

Imagine Bale getting his back broken by the Schumacher Bane, Batffleck battling the Cesar Romero Joker, Adam West battling The Snyderverse Deathstroke, Michelle Pfeiffer, Anne Hathaway, and Zoe Kravitz battling Eartha Kitt, Lee Merriweather, and Julie Newmar as Chris O'Donnell and Burt Ward watch. Commentary brought to us by the one, the only

Mister Freeze, aka, the Cumming man, Arnold Schwarzenegger!!
Also, every Joker, including sad mentally ill Joaquin Phoenix beating up alleged pedophile Jared Leto with a crowbar.

Apr 15, 2022

It came from the Toy Chest: Todd made a villain...

Of course, it's a Batman Villain... everyone knows that the DC Multiverse line is really Batman and some other Losers line.

Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, better known as The Penguin, is a criminal Mastermind, who acts like a legitimate businessman and in multiple continuities, he uses his Iceberg Lounge as a front for his Criminal activities. In the recent WB movie, The Batman, he was played by Colin Farrell in a fat suit. This is the figure we're reviewing... We need a Classac Penguin, Todd!!

Joker: Oh my, Cobblepot! You've grown!
Penguin: Oh no! It's the comic book jester, his animated bitch, and a videogame mercenary!
Slade: Fuck you Penguin! I ought to snipe you in a phone booth!
Harley: Are you gonna let him insult us like that, Mistah J?
Joker: Shut your little pony mouth Harley! I'm here to talk business with my old pal Oswald Cobblepot!!
Penguin: I'll peck... what do you want, Joker?

Articulation:
Pengy here us suffering from limited articulation because he's fat AND a plastic outfit that hinders a lot of articulation.
He can barely be posed out of a vanilla standing pose. Not to mention that his legs feel super stiff and like they're going to break off when attempting to pose him.
3.5
Joker: I heard about the gun ban and I was saving this for a rainy day! Hehehehehehe...
Penguin: What Gun Ban? Bang! Cor Blimey! Where is my gun? Oi, Deadshot! Pull out your gun, will ya!
Slade: It's Deathstroke you asshole... What!? My gun is glued to my holster!
Harley: "Saving this for a rainy day?" That joke was cringe with a capital CRINGE!!

Paint and sculpt:
The paintwork is decent. The sculpt has the same McFarlane issues where it's OK, but the likeness is off. The left fist hand sculpt is ruined by the thick paintjob. Also, since they has his coat and suit sculpted as one piece, this limits the articulation.
3.0
Deathstroke: Fuck this shot I'm out!
Harley: Wait for me Mistah Slade! Puddin' is making anime references now and I can't stand the Chinese cartoon stuff...
Deathstroke: Anime is Japanese...
Penguin: WENK! WENK! WENK!
Joker: Wryyyyhahahahahahahaha!! With this Umbrella I've given you, THE WORLD!!
Penguin: Yes, now I have a Gunbrella!!

Accessories:
If you're making a Penguin figure, you expect one single thing:
An Umbrella ella ella... Here we have a pic of Colin Farrell with one. I'm not asking for the Top Hat, cigar, or cigarette in a cigarette holder. I'm only asking for a plain old umbrella. Because a Penguin without an umbrella isn't the Penguin. He's just a fat dude in semi fancy clothes.
All he has is a Gun Fingers hand, and a closed fist.
1.0
Penguin: With my Gunbrella, I'll take that Sparkly F-
Joker: No! Pengy! Don't use the F-word!! Especially when talking about Batsy! It's like the N-word for queer folks!
Penguin: Oi! I wasn't going to call him a cigarette! I was going to say Fairy, because the Bat looks like a twilight fairy!
Batman: You got a problem with gay men, Cobblepot?
Penguin: He's tapping my shoulder, isn't he?

Overall:
Pengy gets a 2.5 as his final score. I balme the crappy accessories, the useless articulation and weird engineering/cost cutting choices made on the figure.
Batman: I'm going to take you on a world of pain where you will squeal like a pig and beg for sodomy...
Penguin: Wait, you're not the Twibat? You're... you're...
Batman: I am Vengeance!!! I am the Night!!! I!! Am!!! BATMAN!!

While Catwoman and the Green Condom are available, I'll wait for more classic versions of them... We need Burton/Schumacher era villains... (Arnie Freeze, Pfeiffer Catwoman, Carrey Riddler, hell even a Billy Dee Williams Two-Face vs a Tommy Lee Jones Two-Face in a face 4 face battle...)

Random note: Kevin Conroy, the voice of Batman in the 90s Animated series and Arkham games is penning a personal story for DC's Pride 2022 event... and that's how I discovered that another of my favorite male VAs is gay... (we all know that Cam Clarke is gay as well, and how he is worshipped here at the House of rants. Seriously, I fucking love Cam Clarke, platonically. Even my assistant gets a voice Boner from Cam Clarke)

Mar 1, 2022

The Twibat being a self-contained movie is a double-edged sword.

Many years ago, Superhero movies were self-contained adventures without any crossing over... Batman didn't coexist with Superman, while Superman didn't coexist with Martian Manhunter, and Wonder Woman didn't coexist with Aquaman. Until recently, MARVEL was able to prove that you could have a cohesive cinematic universe with various superheroes...

DC made an attempt, but the executives at Warner Brothers fumbled multiple times. From their ineptitude of trying to micromanage after promising "artistic freedumb" to directors all the way to choosing the worst directors ever to make Superhero movies... Not going to say any names, but Zack Snyder was the worst thing to happen to the DCEU. Nice guy, shitty director. The Garbage Human known as Joss Whedon is a far better superhero movie director. So, after the failure of the Snyderverse, WB is desperate trying to get a hit by throwing everything AND the Kitchen sink. They're trying the Multiverse approach and having self-contained stories with these characters. We saw that with Joaquin Phoenix's "Mentally ill Man who dresses like a clown and the only relationship to DC is that some people named Thomas and Martha Wayne die in the end."

Now we have The Batman, with Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne. This has nothing to do with the DCEU AND its director already stated that there will be no Superman or fantastic elements in "his universe". This is a double edged sword. On one hand, that means that stories can be told without worrying about a big continuity that must be kept, but on the other hand it LIMITS the stories that can be told.

No fantastic elements on Batman ruins Ra's al Ghul, Mr. Freeze, Killer Croc, Bane, Mad Hatter, Two-Face, Clayface... before I even hear a:

BuT nOlAn DiD sOmE oF tHoSe YoU mEnTiOnEd...
Nolan screwed over Henri Ducard AND Ra's al Ghul with Begins. He ruined Two-Face in the Dork Knight and Bane... well, we saw what he did to Bane. Even the Joker was screwed by Nolan. You can't have a too realistic Batman, because Batman wouldn't work in the real world.

I understand not wanting Batman to be dealing with Planetary Scale level threats like Starro, or Parademons, but closing off the rest of the DC Universe because of "Muh Realism" does an injustice to Batman and other "street level DC heroes".

But let's be honest here... NO ONE WANTS to deal with a multifranchise cohesive universe AND WARNER BROTHERS FLIP FLOPPING ON THEIR STANCE AND TRYING TO MICROMANAGE EVERYTHING WITHOUT A COHERENT PLAN. As a comic book fan, it saddens me how mistreated the DC Universe has been. It seems like Warner is moving Backwards instead of forward.

I will try to catch the Batman and rant about it, but the state of affairs regarding DC movies is very worrisome.

Odds and ends Dec. 29, 2021... John Madden edition

I guess a change of name is coming to the famous videogame franchise, since Legendary Football Coach, John Madden has been seen by Haley Joel Osment. Condolences to the family and friends. I've very little to say because, all I know about John Madden is:
-Legendary Football Coach. (I don't care about Football)
-Has a videogame series named after him. (I don't care about Football)

I know what you're thinking: If I don't care about Football, why mention it?
"Videogame series named after him" is related to something I care about.

Not even Despacito singing P.T. Barnum is immune to COVID-19. Hugh Jackman has been hit by the virus. The House of Rants wishes a speedy recovery to Leopold before he goes back in time... What? Were you expecting an X-Men reference?

A random thought, since Tobey and Garfield appeared in No Way Home, does that mean that the "Amazing" Spider-Man movies and the Bully Maguire movies are part of the MCU? IF SO, then Tobey started the MCU... until Disney retcons in the Fox movies and then Picard and Gandalf started the MCU. If Tobey, Garfield or Holland appear in the sequel to into the Spider-verse, then that would mean that the MCU started with:

Todd announced some new toys... among them, Titan Joker... as in the final boss from Arkham Asylum.
Will he make an Arkham Knight with Gunfingers, since guns are now a big no-no on DC toys... What about Two-Face? Mr. Freeze? Scarface? The gun ban is dumb... especially for "adult collectibles". Will we get a Bruce Wayne with an extra Hush as Wayne head?

Advent Calendar 08: Dammit Todd and your Batman obsession

I am also to blame since I BUY THE FIGURES!! I found an animated series Harley Quinn who more or less fits with my figures. I also got a Deathstroke and Azrael loose online... I blame that I'm replaying Arkham Knight for them. I'm aware that MacFarlane has made Lex Luthor Gorilla Grodd and other DC Villains... it's just that I haven't been able to find any of them. Not even the Toys R Us inside Macy's have gotten McFarlane stuff. I was hoping for a realistic Harley, but Todd has been focusing on the dceu versions and those are crap! I was hoping for Jason to arrive so I could have the Arkham Knight himself and make an Arkham Knight themed review...

Joker: Harley!!
Harley: Oh, Puddin'!

Before I get to the review board I'll give a brief info on the characters for those of you who might not know who they are and are too lazy to Google.

Harley: Oh, Mistah J! They said ya were dead!
Joker: Oh!! I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!!
Harley: Oh Puddin'!

Harley Quinn was a psychiatrist who fell hard for the Joker and became his sidekick. Her relationship with the Joker is toxic as hell and not a role model.

Joker: Step aside, thot! It's Batsy who I want!!
Batman: No homo, right?
Joker: ALL OF THE HOMO!!
Harley: HWAT DAA!?

Deathstroke, aka Deadpool's inspiration: Slade Wilson is a supermercenary that kicks all sorts of ass. He's better known outside comic book circles as the main antagonist of the Teen Titans. While he can be considered a general Menace in the DC Universe he has strong ties to the bat family.

Harley: I'M GOING TO KILL YA MISTAH J!!
Joker: H-Harley!?
Batman: NOW!!

Azrael was a member of the order of St. DUMAS... prounced doomah not dumass. In the case of Jean Paul Valley, he even replaced Batmam, when Wayne was incapacitated by Bane. The second Azrael, is a former GCPD officer whose suit gives him strength and speed at the cost of his sanity.

Let's start! With Harley because Ladies first...

Damian: Got her!
Harley: Watch where you're grabbin', Boy Blunder!
Nightwing: This will hurt me more than it'll hurt you!
Batman: Your timing was 0.35 seconds too slow!

Articulation
Harley has standard McFarlane articulation... or does she since Todd can be hit or miss here. I'll correct myself. Harley has near ToyBiz era female Marvel Legends articulation. Including double jointed elbows and toe hinges. Unfortunately that way she is engineered her thigh, specifically near the pelvis cannot be used properly. This limits some of the Poses she can do.
4.5

Paint and sculpt
She resembles her Batman Animated series counterpart. Luckily her outfit had some seam line and some creases that make her outfit look a bit more realistic. Since Damian Robin is slightly stylized, it allows me to sneak in Harley without any issue... unlike characters like Superman, Cyborg, or Batman himself, whose animated counterparts are extremely stylized.
5.0

Accessories
Harley Quinn has her Mallet and a gun with a bang flag. Since she was released before DC's anti gun rule... seriously the new Red Hood for the Gotham Knights wave comes without guns but with an extra pair of hands making gun fingers... she also comes with a trading card and a stand bird I'm not even going to count those especially since the loose figures I bought didn't come with stand or trading card.
5.0

Overall
Harley gets a 4.83 as her final score. I'm actually quite impressed with the figure because I thought I would have Nitpicked a lot more since she's animated.

I suppose it's Deathstroke's turn.
Slade: If it isn't Nightwing, or would you rather be called Robin?
Nightwing: I'm not in the mood Slade...
Slade: I see you're no longer with the Titans.
Nightwing: I don't need the Titans to kick your sorry ass...

Articulation
Slade is made with similar articulation to Batman, but his head feels a lot stiffer... (that's what she said.) His joints being so stiff is a double-edged sword. He can hold poses pretty good but at the same time it can be harder to set him in a pose.
4.5
Nightwing: Even a Robin can kick your ass!
Robin: Ah, Deathstroke the Terminator... Your reputation as a formidable warrior was greatly exaggerated...
Slade: What! INSOLENT BRAT!!
Nightwing: Oh Hi there Opening! *whistles*

Paint and sculpt
I'm not entirely sure but I think he's based on the Arkham Origins version, the only Arkham game where we actually fight Deathstroke. The paint job is pretty clean on my figure as the skull looks really good. Right now I'm not sure weather I like this or the DC Direct CW version more.
5.0
Nightwing: Gotcha!!
Robin: Deathstroke, you are Terminated!
Nightwing: STAND DOWN ROBIN!!

Accessories
Sword... I believe Deathstroke was one of the first figures to suffer from the DC gun ban. The sword is even more floppy than Damian Wayne's.
2.5

Overall
Slade gets a 4.0 as his final score. I feel like they could've done more with the figure... but it is what it is...

Now unto Azrael...

Articulation
Ugh... single joint elbows!? Dammit!
I hate when Todd does this crap about going single joint when most of the fingers are double jointed at the elbows. Especially when we have a sword-wielding character. Even Mattel learned that muscular Swordsmen need double joints at their elbows.
4.0
Azrael: The sword of Sin burns at the sight of an injustice...
Batman: Robin, STAND DOWN!
Robin: It would be easier if we put down these monsters.
Azrael: Agreed...
Nightwing: WE don't do that. Killing them would create a new monster that "would need to be put down"... When will that cycle stop?
Batman: What do you want Azrael?

Paint and sculpt
Unlike Arkham figures, this Azrael doesn't have excessive amounts of armored parts with too much detail. With that said, he's a faithful representation of his comicbook counterpart, which has plenty of detail. Paintwise he is pretty decent with no real visible slop.
4.5
Azrael: The Order of St. Dumas and all of its Splinter groups,  including the Order of Purity have been perverted by greed and corruption. I want to serve Justice. Let me join your crusade, Dark Knight.
Nightwing: I'll be taking Slade to GCPD. Wanna help me, Robin?
Robin: The order of Saint Dumbass isn't to be trusted.
Azrael: Neither is the League of Assassins, yet Robin's fighting style reeks of Ra's Al Ghul's filthy...
Robin: I am going to...
Batman: STAND DOWN EVERYONE!

Accessories
Flaming sword with removable flame.
I honestly cannot come up with any ideas of what else he could have come with to give the figure a little extra boost.
4.5

Overall
Azrael gets a 4.33 as his final score. It's not a bad score, I mean, it's over 4 on a scale of 5, but the figure is a bit Underwhelming. Then again, I would've prefered a Jean Paul Valley Knightfall Batman...
