That's kenough, Mattel

I didn't ask for this, but I kinda want it...

When I said MOTU Barbie, I meant Barbie in the style of MOTU not MOTU in the Style of Barbie.

Though an April O'Neil Barbie... He-Man has that April O'Neil hairdo going on. I didn't wake up to see this... but 2 months and a week or so...

Toycember Bonus It came from the Toy Chest 27: Not a toy, but works as a prop

A
BARBIE Stationary set that almost works as an Acrion Figure Power Wheels. Or if you haven't 3-D printer, you can make a base for it and have it act like a Kiddie Ride.

But for the sake of reviewing this, I need to point out what it truly is:

A deathtrap.

Yes, that's right, a deathtrap.
Had to use a letter opener to open the secret compartments, since they DO NOT OPEN AT ALL... unless you stick a knifeon the undercarriage and hood. This is supposed to be a stationery set for Little girls.

The steering wheel and column is a pen. The seats are stamps. The non-working wheels can hide rolls of stickers. The undercarriage can hide a set if stencils. There's a notepad that hides in the hood. Barbie Paper clips for the win...  but let's get to what we're waiting for:

Here it is in Toy Car mode. Looks nice doesn't it?
I'm  getting Barbie Corvette Power Wheels vibes...

Kaylee: Mister Nick why is your Dad whining about a Jorge Del Salto?
Nick (VO): It's got to be some old man thing.
Kaylee: But you're old!
Nick VO: Kaylee, don't say such things!
Kaylee: But you're dating my Mommy, that makes you old!

It's not a great fit though, but it KINDA works from some angles.

Just don't look at it from above... if it had more leg room, I'd get one for Karen, which would be repainted in more badass color

Since this isn't a toy, let's do something closer to a toy:

The Chelsea Tea party accessory pack... or whatever it's called.
It contains an outfit for Chelsea:
Dress, tiara, shoes. Teapot, teacup, plate with cupcake, plate for teapot.

I don't usually do Barbies, but the Dress looks like it could work on Kaylee or Karen.

The tiara and shoes, I cannot use on the figures due to the shoes being smaller than the FTC kid feet. The tiara is as big as their waist. Shoea may be useful as backdrop props.
The teapot is on scale, but the FTC figures have issues holding the teapot and teacup.

Some hold theirs better than others.

The Cupcake is glued to the plate. Which is a hassle, because I wanted to paint some details.

Last but not least...

The dress is a close to perfect fit to the kids.
I wish I could find other Chelsea sized dresses for the current girls and possible future girls... official or customized.

Mattel is making Bronsexuals play with dolls

They made a LeBron James Doll.

LeBron James is now a Barbie Brand Doll.
This is absolutely hilarious! MR.FLOPPY Soft League is now a Ken Doll. He could've been a Master of the Universe, but LeBron chose Barbie.

Worst part is that he's not even in Basketball attire. What is this Going to a Diddy Party, Bron?
Great "hero" You chose there Mattel, unless you're mocking Floppy James, then you're a genius!

What the Hell, Mattel?

This is the MOST Bizarre Barbie I've ever seen.

Last time I checked Juan Gabriel was a dude... Like the Gayest closeted Gay that has ever Closet Gayed...

This is what the Barbie is supposed to look like:
Quick translation: the interviewer asks Juan Gabriel if he's Gay, to which the singer replies with: "lo que se ve no se pregunta." Roughly translates to you don't ask what's obvious" point is, dude's a dude and not a Chick. That Barbie ain't no dude!

Seriously, if he was alive, that would be his reaction to the Barbie.

The end is nigh... odds and ends November 18, 2023

Snoop Dogg is giving up smoking weed.

Honestly I have no idea, Urkel. I mean, Snoop Dogg was more known for his love of weed than his rap career. But we all know the reason.
Willie fucking Nelson...

The whole Urkel amd weed might be crazy but it comes back full circle because someone at WB must have been partaking on the Devil's Lettuce  when they approved this:

Motherfucking Urkel in a Christmas movie straight to digital. Did he do that, yes he did.

Keeping the Christmas is creeping up before the Turkey...

Yes, this is a Barbie now. That Scalpers already got. Fucking Mariah Carey is Barbie now. All I Want For Christmas is to never hear that song ever again! I hated it when I worked at Kmart, I hated it in high school, I hated it in college, I hated it when I was a mall Santa, I hated it when I saw the animated movie made by Mike Young Productions or what became of it after 200X.

Jul 21, 2023

So, I saw Barbie:

I honestly can't believe that Mattel allowed this movie to happen. A huge chunk of the plot makes Mattel look evil and incompetent... just like the real thing!

There are a few jokes at Ruth Handler's expense. A delicious jab at Snydertards, plus a  lot of criticism towards Barbie.

The theater was packed. I ended up first row with people next to me... I dont mind the first row, but I purposely choose first row to avoid people.

But what about the movie?

Apr 22, 2023

WB has a new promotion for Barbie the movie

It's the Barbie Selfie Generator, now you can be a Barbie... or a Ken where you can upload a selfie or a pic of someone and it edits out the normal background to add a new Barbie themed background... it's a fun little thing, you can even add captions. Of course I've seen some folks misusing the app in the most horrible ways. I was going to share a few that I've seen online, but since Blogger has become a widdle bit too sensitive and marks everything as sensitive topics... some of those pics are a bit unflattering with instagram girls... so, here's a good and clean Barbie Selfie Generator pic that even Blogger won't bitch about "sensitive content".

Sure you can...

Sadly Aqua broke up and they won't be able to use this to troll Mattel. Their break-up was a mess that I won't touch here.

Mattel is making a Preschool Barbie

Trying to get them while they're young and all that. Normally this wouldn't be an issue for me, seeing I'm not Barbie's target audience. Whar bugs Me is that THEY'RE MAKING THESE DOLLS ON A DIFFERENT SCALE THAN NORMAL BARBIE DOLLS!! If the kids "outgrow" their My First Barbie dolls and move towards standard Barbie dolls, they can't share clothes... unlike duplo and LEGO which are compatible with each other. The Standard Barbies are 11.5" while the new My First Barbie is 13.5". That's like putting Figma Phoenix Wright next to NECA Biff Tannen.

The other changes they made, I kinda like:
-Better arm and leg articulation. I always welcome articulation on toys.

-Softer bodies... No sir, I don't like it! I'm worried about the longevity of these dolls. While softer bodies decreases the harm potential when they get weaponized, it could also decrease the lifespan of the doll if the plastic rots too fast.

-changed hand sculpt to make it easier to change outfits. I absolutely love the idea, but I don't like the wording used by Mattel's representative, Lisa McKnight on the article:
McKnight said the doll’s hands feature a distinctive design change. “The hand is closed, so the thumb is not detached. We did this to make it easier for little hands to dress and undress the doll,” she said.

Barbie already has a ton of issues with parents claiming she's a bad role model for girls. Now I can almost see how some groups will twist this into saying that Barbie promotes a libertine lifestyle to kids because Mattel made the dolls easier to undress or some bullshit like that.

I see some mentions about using velcro instead of buttons, variations in skin tones, but I don't see anything about F-A-T Barbies. I wonder if they sold well... also there's no mention of Ken either.

More "Diversity" from Barbie...

As Mattel tries to gain more Politically Correct brownie points, we can see a pattern.

We have deaf Barbie, nearsighted Barbie, Wheelchair Barbie, Prosthetic Leg Barbie, Fat Barbie, Vitiligo Ken, etc. But there is one group that has been left out:
Fat Men.

Where is Fat Ken, Mattel? While we're at it; Where's Wheelchair Ken? Or the Ken that needs crutches to aid his mobility disability? Or how about ugly faced Barbie and Ken? Ugly people need representation too, you know? And that's what bugs me about these "Diversity Barbies". They aren't diverse enough. They're sticking to glamorizable disabilities and body types.
Also, it feels like they're doing it to appease the twitter crowd than an honest attempt by Mattel. The weird thing is that these bug me way too much. As an action figure collector who enjoys dioramas, realistic depictions of people should be OK with me. Unlike Superheroes, Athletes, and fantasy characters, these are supposed to be average folks. But they look too beautiful to be average. Then there's the whole empty symbolic gesture angle. Where are the wheelchair accessible cars and houses?

I... I stand corrected. Mattel MIGHT BE a bit more committed to this than appeasing twitter folks. I could make a joke how the elevator's first stop is literally the bathroom. Just imagine
Brad, Ken's African American friend, is taking a leak. The elevator's doors open and Skipper pops out as Brad is shaking off his large and thick dark meat. By the moment Brad realizes that Skipper barged into the bathroom he'd be tazed by two police officers coming to arrest him for indecent exposure towards a minor.
Judge Barbie will sentence him for 20 years in prison and an anonymous tip would reach the population that he exposed himself to a 14 year old girl and tried to have his way with her.

This 1993 Ken wears a cockring...
He's colloquially known as Gay Ken...
Where is Carpet Munching Butch Barbie?

Man, this Ken makes Prince Adam and his Fabulous Secret Powers look extra Masculine. We can get an "accidentally stereotypical gay" Ken doll, but there is no way that an "accidentally stereotypical Butch Lesbian" Barbie exists. Even the Bowling Champ Barbie looks incredibly not like a butch lesbian stereotype. But all jokes aside, since Mattel seems ro be truly trying to be diverse instead of just catering to the Twitter crowd, they deserve a chance... I'm surprised that they aren't quarter assing it like normal. Sure, they have long ways to go, but it seems they're putting an effort and that must be recognized.

Odds and ends Jan.9 2019: Barbie Quinn, Super7, and stuff...

Margot Robbie is officially Barbie. I could've sworn this was old news. In any case she is Barbie now. The article barely acknowledged the existence of MOTU...

This is NOT THE MOVIE WE NEED, NOR DESERVE... I just don't want it to be a turd.

And Super7 is REALLY tempting me...
The accessories of the Filmation wave 4...
And the Thing is that I'm torn... I want Stratos, Adam, and Weaver... but the Wave 3 of Classics is holding me back. Have until Friday to make up my mind... (I know the presale ends on the 31st, but I have to make up my mind ASAP)

Seriously!? A second Filmation power sword that looks Filmation accurate!?

Duuuuude! Hoverchair Charles is coming on March! Perfect Birthday present for me! He's available for preorder now.

Margot Robbie as Barbie? I think it works...

Seems like SONY lost their Barbie but WB found her... assuming the negotiations are successful. They chose Margot Robbie as their best candidate... Thank goodness, because the Amy Schumer project reeked of crap! But the Birds of Prey Project is still happening...
DCEU Reboot yourself. Start all over... You messed up with Jared Leto... Quit before you fall too behind.

But Back to Barbie... WB has a HUGE Responsibility with this... They are eyeing Patty Jenkins, which is a good thing. If they have a movie that is respectful to the character, they might do well...

Hello stupid Miscasting, now that we're speaking Birds of Prey. So we have Robbie as Harley returning... Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Live Free or Die Hard, Sky High) as Huntress... and wait for it:
Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary... a (Half) Black woman playing a Character who has BLACK in the name... AND THE CHARACTER ISN'T SUPPOSED TO BE BLACK!!

You got them ALL WRONG! You COULD HAVE GOTTEN Away with  Huntress being half-black seeing that Sicily, due to it's location and closeness to Africa has had it's share of dark skinned people mingling with the population. This could allow that a "Half-Black Actress" could do the role of Bertinelli. Changing Black Canary's race just because "current year" is stupid and racist.

Wait, The Villain is rumored to be Roman Sionis... Also known as BLACK MASK... Betting that here they won't Cast a Black Man...

Mar 23, 2017

Amy Schumer is no longer Barbie... YAY!!!

Celebrate good times, come on! What? It's known that I'm not a fan of the Schumer Barbie.
I mean, the woman is known for stealing other people's jokes... Not to mention how slutty she is.

But in any case this probably has NOTHING TO DO with Mattel's stock plummeting as Hasbro's is doing great. (Mostly due to the change of hands that the Disney License did from Mattel to Hasbro) and the Failure of Max Steel had nothing to do either.

Sure, Scheduling Conflicts... And I'm next in line to play the role of He-Man... Let's be honest here:
Amy Schumer's latest special has received a lot of bad reviews (and no, it's not just an "alt-right" attack.) There have been former fans of Schumer who have found her latest special not up to snuff.
So, she's not that Marketable anymore. Then we have Mattel not doing that well financially, that they can't afford ruining their Flagship Brand to a "SocJus" Experiment... Remember that BARBIE is the villain in the Schumer Barbie movie. Villanizing their own brand would yield no profit for Mattel.

Barbie Movie... With Amy Schumer!?

Betcha that the tumbltards are moist about this... I'm seriously thinking:

but not in a good way...
Seriously? Amy Schumer? as BARBIE!?

OK, let's look at Barbie...

Notice something?
Now let's look at Amy Schumer...
Now do you see what I see?

Her physique matches Barbie's just like my fluffy ass matches He-Man's super ripped physique.

And her non-Barbie physique is what the movie will be about?

It's official, Mattel is allergic to making money if they're going to let Amy Schumer drag Barbie's name into the mud. Need I remind you that kids mocked the Fat Barbie doll?

The 35-year-old actress' character will be expelled from Barbieland for failing to live up to the perfection expected of its residents and will set off on a journey of self-discovery.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the live-action movie will be a "contemporary spin on beauty, feminism, and identity".
Do I need to point out ALL THE THINGS WRONG IN THIS STATEMENT?
So, does this mean Barbie will be the villain, while Amy's character is the hero? Also, SONY, didn't you learn anything after Ghostfloppers? Also, Amy Schumer? Isn't she famous like for making jokes about how slutty she is? Like THAT IS WHO MATTEL WOULD LIKE TO HAVE AS THE FACE OF BARBIE? Seriously it's as ridiculous as Nintendo asking for Ron Jeremy to play Mario in a kids' movie. Not to mention that she's politically controversial... Something, something, she'd leave the USA if America elected the Racist Tribble living atop Donald Trump's head.

Also, Force-feeding Third Wave Feminism into movies is something the public does not want... Why does this reek of Amy Pascal... the idiot who killed Ghostbusters with that dick nozzle Paul Feig?

The movie does not have a director yet but Walter F. Parkes, Laurie MacDonald, and Amy Pascal will produce the film from a script written by Hilary Winston.
I KNEW IT!! Look, Legally Blonde is a Better Barbie Movie than this proposal, Down Periscope was a better "Battleship" movie THAN BATTLESHIP itself. Making this movie would hurt Mattel a lot... and possibly cause other Mattel Property movies to be shelved... and there is ONE IN PARTICULAR that I want to see... Treat the property with respect and the movie will be fondly remembered. Take a dump on the property and we get things like Dragon Ball: Evolution. (Just to mention one that it's not Feig's Bridesmaids with ghosts)

For the Honor of BARBIE!?

Seems that Mattel has a Trick up their sleeves and teased us with this image:

Filmation Weed Breastplate in pleather
Chromed Sword of Protection
Chromed Sword to Shield
Pleather golden boots.
Oversized Stitches...

Do you know what this means?
She-Ra Doll is coming.
Based on the higher number of pleather and chromed items, I may guess this will be a collectors doll...
Will it be Limited Edition, Silver Label, or any other Barbie Collection terms to make her appear more valuable?

She could also NOT BE A BARBIE PRODUCT...
She could be for the Everafter High line and use the "High" bodies. I hope not.

This looks like it'll be a bit expensive... Now if they would just confirm Snake Mountain...

Feb 12, 2016

Mattel has caved in to SJWs...

As seen with the new upcoming Barbies.
Normal Barbie will not vanish, so there is still some hope.
Of course they had to use the Traditional White and Blonde Barbie, which in a way should enrage the rainbow dyed Tumblerinas. You know the ones...

Now we have Short Barbie... I mean petite. So is this basically a Barbie Torso with Skipper Limbs?

Then we have a Tall Barbie... Insert a Venti joke somewhere here. There's not much I can say about a Taller Barbie, except that those clothes make her look off. I guess that's a Tall people problem.

Last but not least, we have FAT Barbie. This is where the Bloated Tumblrinas are basically getting moist. A Barbie that almost represents them. She even has the unnatural hair color. But she is still problematic. This Barbie still adheres to the Evil cis Gender Binary and insert a bunch of asstarded Tumblr buzzwords to feel oppressed and stuff.
Of course the Third Wavers are complaining that she is not fat enough and the usual crap. Besides, all of these perpetual whiners ARE NOT GOING TO BUY THE DOLL ANYWAY. Not to mention that kids DON'T WANT the FAT BARBIE. Unless this Barbie is as slim as Ken, she will NOT FIT on Most of Barbie's playsets and vehicles.

Where's the proof?
Mattel tested the curvy Barbie with young girls to see their reaction, reported Time. Without adults in the room, the girls were quite free with their play. One young one expressed her view with a song.
“Hello, I’m a fat person, fat, fat, fat.”
So, let's see. young Girls making fun of the Fat Barbie...

However, when an adult was in the room, none of the girls would use the word fat. They would use the word chubbier or spell out the word fat. This has changed over the last couple of years, likely due to the anti-bullying efforts put in place by the school systems.
“I don’t want to hurt her feelings,” one little one said.
So, the kids are not really interested in Barbie and seem to be "Forced" to like her by the Adults...
However, the girls are not quite as excited and accepting of the curvy Barbie as their moms. Tania Missad is in charge of the girl’s portfolio research team for Mattel.
See? That's what I mean! The whole "Barbie gives girls Body issues" stem more from Insecure Adults than the kids themselves!
“We see it a lot. The adult leaves the room and they undress the curvy Barbie and snicker a little bit. For me, it’s these moments where it just really sets in how important it is we do this. Over time I would love it if a girl wouldn’t snicker and just think of it as another beautiful doll.”
So basically, Missad is trying to force girls to accept unhealthy lifestyles as normal. Here comes the part that the Tumblrinas try to go Ace Attorney on me and mention the "Unhealthy proportions" of Normal Barbie. Then this is the part that I point out, Barbie's "unnatural proportions" are on purpose in order for the clothes to fit and that she looks somewhat Normal when wearing them. Remember that the cloth items are made from cloth that is meant to be used for OUR Clothing. So, an upscaled to 1:1 Barbie T-shirt would be several inches thick. But back to the "unhealthy proportions and fat acceptance."  FAT IS UNHEALTHY, I should know because I AM FAT! Yes, more people are fat, some have medical conditions that contribute to their added weight, but more often than not is a Sedentary lifestyle (sitting around writing a blog about playing videogames, watching movies and collecting action figures, and sitting around playing videogames and watching movies) not to mention bad food habits, lack of exercise... FAT is NOT Beautiful, so stop trying to make it beautiful.

But wait, there's more:

The moms in Mattel’s focus groups widely supported adding diversity in body and color to the dolls. Body image is very important to moms, no matter what socio-economic group or region they were in. The beauty standards their children are exposed to is of high concern to all the moms in focus groups across America.
All these issues about Barbie come from overprotective mothers who are coddling the hell out of their kids...

In fact, the change in body type was the number one requested feature from them. Added to that was more modest clothing, less makeup and joints that moved.
I only agree with more Articulation. But did you notice something: It's THE MOTHERS that want to take Barbie Down to "average" almost as if THEY HAD FORGOTTEN what Barbie was all about. The FASHION, GLAMOUR, THE MANSION, THE JET, THE CONVERTIBLE, etc. Barbie is NOT about Social Justice.
When asked, the moms said that they would be more likely to buy more Barbie dolls based on the new bodies. Some of the mothers wished the curvy Barbie doll actually had more curves. Time reported one mother’s comments.
“I wish that she were curvier. There are shapes that are curvier and still are beautiful. My daughter definitely has curves, and I would want to give her a doll like that. It’s a start, I guess.”
See? This is all part of making Fat the new normal, which is wrong.

But let's see if anyone notices WHAT is Absent here?
Where is Fat Ken? Short Ken? Abe Lincoln tall and Lanky Ken? Notice that the only Ken available is Hunk Ken?

Sure, they'll play this off as "Ken is never as popular as Barbie" BS.

On a different note, I can't believe that Mattel actually did this, seeing how much they whine about Tooling Budget and China botching things up.

Jan 30, 2015

It's official: Mattel is either stupid or completely unaware of their properties.

Barbie is now ripping off Mattel's own She-Ra: Princess of Power with the new toyline Barbie: Princess Power...

So Barbie is now a super heroine called Super Sparkle... (Now I know what I can call the son of Kal-El and Princess Twilight Sparkle)  How is she ripping off She-Ra aside the name?
Well, Super Sparkle spreads her arms and her sparkly cape opens and sparkles...

She-Ra did it first, in the eighties... Holy crap! there's a MOVIE!?

OK, Trank's Chronicle 2 may be a bit better than this thing... I don't know but Barbie looks a bit deranged on this. Worst part is that it's coming to theaters?

What I mean is, Mattel already OWNS a Superhero line for girls...

And the whole:
Girls want to be strong and empowering, but the difference is, they don't want to defeat the evil. They want to work as a team, and convert that evil enemy to their friend.
can be used on PoP since that was pretty much the same BS approach they had in the 80s toyline.
Why try to use Barbie, who is loaded with a bunch of "issues" like being a moronic computer engineer who has no idea how computers work. Or the whole Body issues complaints from people like the Loathsome Media Critic who shall not be named nor her Glorified YTP sidekick.

It also brings back She-Ra, not to mention Barbie Sized She-Ra dolls, which would be an interesting collectible... A lot better than Skeletot.  Heck! the whole Barbie as She-Ra could start with Barbie being an actress who plays the role of Adora on the Princess of Power movie who then gets the REAL She-Ra Powers and does stuff in our world to protect us from the Hordeswomen on Earth.
Boom!

But Mattel wants to push Barbie unto a generation that doesn't really care about Barbie. Even Monster High began to lose its luster and appeal. Right now the real target audience is the Adult Collector. (and I cannot make an opinion on How Mattel treats the adult Barbie Collectors because I can't enter the BC Club.) I'm stuck with the Matty Collector club... because of He-Man and his sister...

They have an actual Female Superhero property that they own and they do not use it. WHY? WHY?WHY!?
But I'm no Mattel employee and even those guys don't have the answer.

Barbie Movie is Happening... HWAT!?

I was not joking nearly two years ago when I said that they should try to make a Barbie Movie!! I just didn't expect it to truly happen! Curse you LEGO Movie!! There, something bad that I can say about the LEGO movie. They're hoping to start filming before the end of 2014. You know, I can't wait for this to happen. I KNOW for sure that certain Social Justice Womyn Warriors will bitch and moan about Barbie the movie, simply BECAUSE it's Barbie. I almost expect "Patriarchy diatribes" running loose.

Back to the movie news. The angle going for Barbie is a modern day Mary Poppins type of character.
But, we know which project will be easier to make. Barbie WILL Happen, meanwhile the He-Man movie is gathering more dust than Castle Grayskull.

I'll just have to see how this develops and I MAY HAVE TO SEE THIS... Dammit,  Blockbuster! Why did you have to go broke before this came to DVD?

May 2, 2013

a BARBIE on MATTYCOLLECTOR!? WTF!?

Yup! you heard right! Mattycollector's got a Barbie... a Julie Newmar Barbie...

and guess what is the other Exclusive revealed today...
If you said a Hot Wheels, you won a No-Prize!!

A Hot Wheels A-Team van but all muddied up.

I have to say that these two are THE BEST reveals Mattel has made for SDCC... Sadly, The Barbie or the A-Team Van will NOT be available on Mattycollector. Apparently, none of the Hot Wheels will be on Matty. Just Shazam, Super 2 pack, and the Comet Warriors...
Let's see what the Final day of reveals will bring... (or what the non-Hot Wheels Item will be)

Mar 24, 2013

Why it would be awesome to have a MOTUC Barbie and Ken?

It totally would. What's more Mattel than Barbie? We already have MOTU Hot Wheels. A Cross Promotion between Barbie and MOTU lines would be stupid-awesome. Why hasn't Mattel done it? No idea... Sure, they've made X-Files Barbies, DC Barbies, Speed Racer Barbies, Twilight Barbies... There's some 60s Batman Barbies coming... Yes, there's going to be an Adam West Bat Doll that can hang out in Barbie's Dreamhouse... Still we have no MOTU Barbies...

Sure Mattel did a Polly Pocket/She-Ra Crossover... But Polly Pocket ain't Barbie... When you say Mattel, everyone WILL think of Barbie or Hot Wheels... MOTU may be a distant third competing with Big Jim (depends on the age of the person asked...) So, in order to promote MOTU Classics to a different set of collectors, it WOULD be cool to have a Barbie and friends Special Halloween sub line of them disguised as MOTU and POP characters.

Have Barbie as She-Ra, Blaine as He-Man, Ken as Bow, Midge as Castaspella, Stacey as Glimmer, Teresa as Catra, Allan as The Mighty Spector, etc. But that's up to the Barbie Team to figure out...
It brings some awareness back to He-Man and She-Ra and gives the Barbie Collectors another set of Barbies to get.
On the other hand, I'd be more interested in an obvious novelty item. Like the title says: a Masters of the Universe Classics Barbie and Ken.

He-Man's cameo here has nothing to do with me wanting a MOTUC Barbie and a Super Buff Ken... Yes, this is the perfect novelty item for a convention. Barbie Folks may be curious about it and MOTUC Collectors could use them as is and in worst case scenario use them as Custom figure bases.
Seriously, If we can have Cowboys with lasers popping out of his body, Demon-ninja, Firefighting robo-elephants, Having Barbie and Ken as characters isn't THAT Far-Fetched... Sure some people (most of them) would scoff at this crazy idea, which a small group of people has mentioned every now and then. I know that this is kinda shoe-horning Barbie and Ken into MOTUC, but we HAVE Mo-Larr, Sir-Laser-Lot, and Spector IN MOTUC already. So having this two pack as an almost self-contained thing could work. Have Barbie as A Former Sorceress of Grayskull. It's been about 5000 years between the First Sorceress (Queen Veena) to the current Sorceress (Teela-Na). There's Plenty of Room there to have a bunch of Past Sorceresses and a Personal Guardian (we need to have some way to toss Ken in...)
Sure, they could go 2 ways with Barbie if she's a Sorceress:
a) the Lazy way and Make a Pink Sorceress with 2 new heads (one with the Sorceress Headdress and Barbie's face on it and a second Full Barbie head with her hair loose.)
b)Use an Unreleased Sorceress Concept or an alternate version of Teela-Na (like NA or 200X Sorceress) with a second Full Barbie head... Unlike Method A this one may require new tooling.
c)the Challenging way and make a Barbie that is her own character but with hints towards the Sorceress Heritage. (orange, White and blue elements added to the look)

Ken would be easy... Mixing and matching Male pieces to make a brand new character is more doable with a male buck. (adding Ken's head and any other new pieces if needed.)

Personally, I'd use the 200X Sorceress as the Body for Sorceress Barbie with a second Barbie Head without the Sorceress Headdress. (Real Name: Barbara Millicent of the House of Dreams) It helps 200X fans to get their Sorceress and it gives people an incentive to buy this set. (200X colors for Matty and Classic Sorceress colors for San Diego... assuming the Barbie 2 pack is made as an Exclusive for SDCC)

Like I said before: Ken is easy. If you want to make a knight out of him then:
Man-e-Faces Shoulders, Trap Jaw Biceps, Bow Forearms and NA He-Man hands are a start for an armored look.
If they wanna go for a more "barbarian" look then they need the Vykron Forearms for him... (So the modular Vykron stuff can be used on him as well... works as a nod to Ken)

Personally I hope that if Ken is made into a MOTUC, that they go with the more knightly look. That way he could have a second head with a full knight helm and be used as a Preternian KG knight. Thus making the set still be appealing for those who'd normally scoff at a MOTUC Barbie and Ken.
