RDR2: The Epilogue: The rant.

I wanted to discuss this separately from the main review, because of a couple of reasons...

Due to the massive spoilers of a month-old game, I will do a page break.

Well, you clicked.
If you don't want spoilers, turn back now...

You have been warned...

There will be spoilers for Red Dead Redemption 2...

Last chance...

So, after Arthur dies, you get a slight time skip and you play as John Marston... who cannot swim. Remember him?
The guy we wanted to play as instead of lame ass Jack sparrow wannabe Jack Marston at the end of the first Red Dead Redemption?

Well now we play as John as he becomes a farmer... for a couple of hours doing the best thing John knows...
Milking cows, shoveling manure, building a fence, building a house... you know, exactly the same things you expected in a Red Dead Redemption game...

Putting my snark aside, yes, the epilogue is a lot more peaceful and slow when compared to the main game, but it has a couple of issues, aside its ridiculous length and focus on homesteading instead of Spaghetti Western Action.

The main issue is that it steals Arthur Morgan's thunder.
By setting up the Epilogue to be a "Rogue One" to the first game, it kinda devalues Arthur's role on the story.

Part of me feels that the Epilogue should have been a separate piece. Don't get me wrong, the Epilogue is cool in its own way, but it takes away from the game just to set up the previous game.

I kinda wish we had gotten more John and Arthur moments so the switch wouldn't feel so jarring.
