Terminator's Dark Fate... a Terminator Dark Fate Rant *Spoilers*

In a Franchise with 2 Great movies, 1 crappy movie, 2 WTF movies, now we add Dark Fate. I could mention the Sarah Connor Chronicles, but I won't.

Incredibly enough, David S. Goyer managed a semi-competent script...
There will be spoilers after the jump.

Before I start the review: I'm not a fan of the whole taking established franchises and making it about women because Vagina. This movie had a LOT of that, but at the end it was a mostly enjoyable flick.
Still WAY Inferior to the ONLY TERMINATOR MOVIES IN EXISTENCE!! But for a pretender, it's the best of them all... (But then again, the bar is VERY Low!)

So, you braved the spoiler warning?

JOHN CONNOR IS KILLED IN THE FIRST 3 MINUTES OF THE MOVIE!!!
I REPEAT, JOHN CONNOR, LEADER OF THE HUMAN RESISTANCE IS KILLED WITHIN THE FIRST 3 MINUTES OF THE MOVIE!!!
Just to set up the whole "Girl Power" BS. It's Better than John becoming a Terminator and wanting to kill his parents, but still a shitty move.

Now that there is no John, because shortly after T2, another Ahnuld is sent back and kills John... we have this Girl, Daniela, who is being hunted by a Terminator... This Terminator is called the Rev-9.
Basically, take a Mexican T-1000 and fuse it with a T-800 endoskeleton in a weird fusion that can split up. Now take a Female Kyle Reese and give her Marcus styled Cybernetic enhancements. So, Female Kyle Reese/Marcus hybrid (Grace) has to protect the new Sarah (Dani) from the T-1800 (Rev-9) in order to save the future from Skynet (Legion) This rehash is a rehash of a rehash that references past rehashes and feels like a shallow and pedantic bootleg copy.

Sarah Connor is thrown into the mix and we have a T2 Sarah fighting along Female Kyle Reese, while protecting New T1 Sarah from the Terminator. They still can't stop the T-1800 so, they follow a mysterious set of clues to find the person who is sending tips to Sarah on the location of Terminators to stop them... Yes, you already guessed that it's Arnie... So, we have The T3 Arnie (The Terminator that killed John at the beginning) Old Woman T2 Sarah Connor (Sarah) and Female Kyle Reese/Marcus hybrid (Grace) to protect The new Sarah Connor (Dani) from the T-1800 (Rev-9)
At the end, we discover that Dani wasn't the new Sarah, but the new John, and that Grace is "like a daughter" to Dani. Both Grace and Arnie sacrifice themselves for Grace, who ends up being "adopted" by Sarah to turn her into John Connor 2.0 now with Vagina.

But because I didn't "LOVE THIS" I'm misogynistic. I didn't love it because the movie BROUGHT NOTHING ORIGINAL TO THE PLATE.
Dead John? T3 Did it. Female Protagonist? T1, and T3 did it. Time Traveling human? T1 and T5 did it. a T800 and T1000 hybrid, T3 did it.
Human cyborg? T4 Did it. Old Arnold? T5 Did it.
The problem lies in how it was handed. Aside Arnie, who was castrated in many ways; male characters are useless in the movie.
-Dani's dad? Killed as plot device.
-Dani's brother? Killed as plot device.
-Random Cholo who finds Grace? Gets his clothes stolen and is mocked by his Girlfriend.
-Multiple Police and ICE Officers? Cannon Fodder for the Rev-9 and Grace.
-The Major that gets the EMP shot and killed by Rev-9 (also destroying the EMP grenades)
-Arnie? "Marries" a Mexican woman and raises her child. He acts like "The perfect Husband". Doesn't complain, does everything around the house, is a good listener, and basically is the opposite of Arnold.
-Rev-9: Least intimidating Terminator of all time.
-John? Fridged in the first 3 minutes.

There is no need to sink men in order to make women "strong".
Then there's the whole MAKE US CARE ABOUT THE FEMALE CHARACTERS!!

Sarah had reverted to her "Unlikable" T2 mode for obvious reasons. But due to our history with the character, we care for her. Grace behaves very machine-like most of the time, which renders her in an "unlikable" mode as well. Before anyone says: Arnold plays a machine and he's "pretty likable"... as a defense, just shut up! Arnold's LIKABLE BECAUSE of his Fish out of water moments and how he bonds with John. The Closest thing to a bonding moment with Grace is when she reveals that Dani is the Resistance Leader. Dani is as clueless as T1 Sarah, but by the end of the movie she turns into T2 Sarah as well. The transition being a bit Too forced and ends up feeling unnatural.

I HONESTLY WANTED TO LIKE THE MOVIE. IT HAD JAMES CAMERON'S BLESSING and all that. It just felt derivative and more interested in promoting faux feminism as a gimmick than being a WORTHY Sequel to the Terminator franchise.

We've had enough attempts at a sequel... Just stop! We only have 2 Terminator movies. Period!
