I didn't play the original DLC, because I hate the format and back then I had stronger convictions. I only played the Remastered version because it came with the game.
So, do you need to play this? No and yes. I played the original TLOU and then Abby's Pro-Am Tour and didn't need Left Behind... But now that I played Left Behind I've found the proper way to play the TLOU series:
Start with TLOU up until you reach Colorado but Before you hunt deer with Ellie.
Right around this scene. Save and quit, then boot up Left Behind. Play Left Behind in its entirety, then complete TLOU... then if you want to take a shit on Joel and Ellie, play TLOU2.
Graphics, gameplay, Sounds, music, controls, etc. are all the same as normal TLOu, so I won't go into specofocs there... walking bug/glitch that IS NOT THE CONTROLLER as some people claim is still present.
So, I'll ramble about the Story:
After Ellie escapes with a wounded Joel from the Hunters that we eventually find out are cannibals, they hide in a mall. There, Ellie tries to find medical supplies to tend Joel's wound. As she travels through the abandoned Mall, she reminisces how about the night she escaped with her friend Riley to an abandoned Mall in Boston, where she received the infection. The DLC alternates between Present Time and the Flashbacks in order to have some character development for Ellie, where we find out she's
Which isn't as triggering as certain folks tried to make it. To be honest, it felt organic...
Unlike the Abigail Plot from part 2.
We get some annoying sneaking sections and some moderately difficult battles and some have both Hunters and Infected, which means:
NEW GAMEPLAY ELEMENT THAT WAS IMPLEMENTED ON PART 2. Pitting one group against the other and then picking up the stragglers is so much fun!
But like everything TLOU, you need a break between playthroughs, otherwise the magic won't be there.
