I'm 90% on board with the Remake for The Last of Us...

 Been playing the PS4 Remaster of the original TLOU and I can see how it would benefit from a Remake. From a gameplay perspective a remake would be most welcome as soon as it would polish up the combat and stealth. Also things like the safes would get an improvement with us having to actually input the combination. Streamlining the weapon upgrade system is also an added Improvement.

 But I'm not completely on board because of Druckmann. I feel know he will screw this up. He will try to villainize Joel in order to ensure the Abby story.  But let's  pretend Druckmann doesn't fuck this up... where could the story be expanded?

There are a couple of spots where it can be expanded:

-Journey from Pittsburgh to Jackson is the main space for expansion.

-Journey from Jackson to Boulder. This one is not as big as Pittsburgh to Jackson, but it has a little leeway.

From Pittsburgh to Jackson is nearly 24 days walking. They pass by:

Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, and Nebraska, before reaching Wyoming.

Before anyone asks, I don't mention From Lincoln to Pittsburgh, because that's 8 hours on car, and they have a car at the time.  Woth that out of the way, let's  go back to Pittsburgh to Jackson:

That's a 5 state journey that could easily have a couple of chapters worth of gameplay... especially with the new gameplay elements that would come from part 2.

Ohio could start with Joel and Ellie trying to find a way to transport themselves to Jackson. They encounter the usual: infected, few normal folks who are struggling to survive. We get more Joel and Ellie time. 

Indiana would be similar, but this time, they begin to prepare for fall (trying to find clothes for cooler climate.) Maybe we could have another Ellie snipes as Joel stealthily dispatches some hunters. Finding more odd tales like that of Ish would be nice.

Iowa could be where they finally find a car after a struggle, but it allows them to skip Nebraska and it breaks down as they reach Wyoming and they trek on foot to Jackson.

The Journey from Jackson to Boulder could allow us to see Joel struggle with his pent up trauma involving the death of Sarah. 

They could do so many things with these "filler chapters". Hell, they COULD INTRODUCE one of the main characters of the potential third game. But on the other hand, I fear what Druckmann would do to stroke his ego.
