The Shuma-Gorath looking creature in the Doctor Strange 2 trailer Might not be Shuma-Gorath...
That dude right there who totally looks like Shuma-Gorath
Sure, Capcom's version is a lot smaller, but that's not what I was going for. Look at them and be amazed at how similar they are... well, that ain't Shuma-Gorath... that's Gargantos...
According to LEGO, the Shuma-Gorath looking creature is Gargantos... but why is this?
Simple:
Shuma-Gorath was a creation of Robert E. Howard... as in creator of Conan the Cimmerian and Kull the Conqueror. Shuma-Gorath, was mentioned in a story by REH: The Curse of the Golden Skull... technically speaking it was the Iron-bound books of Shuma-Gorath what was mentioned. So, the estate of Robert E Howard owns the name Shuma-Gorath.
If it hadn't been for Capcom and their tentacl3 fetish... I've seen enough hentai to know that folks at Capcom have seen enough hentai themselves to get excited about uaing a tentacle monster on a fighting game full of Western characters.
So, while the movie, LEGO set, and hopefully Marvel Legends figure (please don't be a BAF) will call it Gargantos, but you, me, and everyone who has knowledge of Marvel beyond the MCU should know that Gargantos is a pussy next to Shuma-Gorath and that the MCU Gargantos IS Shuma-Gorath in bypassing copyright infringement.
