Bob Ross: the rant.
Do you know who was Bob Ross? Big bushy hair, loves animals and paints happy little trees...
Bob Ross minus perm... we need to fix this:
Take your knife, add some Titanium Hwite,
Mix with some Yellow Ochre. Let's add a bit of Alizarin Crimson.
Mix it up. Just a little bit of Dark Sienna. That's it. Now let's take a little bit over here and add some Van Dyke Brown. Now that we have a dark base, take the round brusb and tap it on the paint. Let tbe paint soak up on the bristles. Tap and slightly push up as you load the brusb. Now, tap the brush on the Happy little painter's hairline to create a perm that lives up there. Now we take the one inch brush and lightly blend the hair. We will create volume with the lighter color and our round brush. Now we load the lighter color we prepared and add just a touch of liquid Hwite to slightly thin it. Lighter paint sticks better to heavier paint. Now we tap the brush on the higjer areas of the perm to give the illusion of depth. There you have a Happy little perm, but I think he needs a friend. Let's take our fan brush and load it with the darker hair color. Let's visit the happy painter's chin and enhance that beard. CHOOM! CHOOM! You have to do the sound to make the beard bushier. Now taking the corner of a small round brush, we dip the lighter paint. We tap it on the beard while slightlypushing down. Now with our clean knife, we gently scratch some grey hairs on the beard. The Happy little painter has had some stressing moments in his life. Now we dip our brush in some thinner. Shake the excess off and beat the devil out of it! I love cleaning my tools. The people at the studio aren't too happy about it, but I cannot paint using dirty tools...
I hope you read that in Bob Ross's voice.
For some reason Bob is popular in Japan.
Bobu Rosu to no kaiga yorokobi wa sugoi desu ne!!
Ai shiteru Bobu Rosu-sama!!
Best anime since Uchinonaka no Korī...
All jokes aside: Bob Ross is a controversial topic in the art community. Some people think he's a fraud for utilizing "Wilhelm Alexander's method" and becoming mire popular than Alexander himself. Others simply think his art is shallow and not using real landscapes being an act of cheating.
The thing is that Bob Ross was Prometheus. He gave the average Joe, and Jane the ability to begin painting.
His preferred skillset seems "basic" to experts. That is precisely the whole point about Bob Ross. he was the training wheels of painting if painting was a bicycle... or the opening course at a huge dinner. Then there is the whole soothing aura that Mr. Ross emanated. It's highly unlikely that I will take up oil painting, but I love watching reruns of The Joy of Painting whether on YouTube, Netflix, or even PBS. The fact is that he is so relaxing that after a hard shift, I get home I watch an episode and then drift on Morpheus's arms... the deity, not Laurence Fishburne.
Whether you like him or hate him you can't deny that Bob Ross is a cultural icon and tried to bring some more appreciation to the art of painting. It doesn't matter if he was a great artist or not. what matters is how Inspire others to take on the brushes.
