The Last of Us HBO show...

In order to compete with other streaming services, HBO has upped the amount of original exclusive content. With the success of The Witcher, HBO is taking a shot at a Videogame based series... Don't mind the fact that The Witcher is based on the books and not the games.
We're going to get a series based on The Last of Us.

The big deal is that it WILL HAVE DIRECT INVOLVEMENT FROM NAUGHTY DOG'S Neil Druckmann... as in the VP of Naughty Dog AND main writer for the game.
This is not some Paul Weak Sauce Anderson bastardizing Resident Evil with little involvement from Crapcom.

It's very important to have the people involved with the game backing this project. This means that the people involved really care about the product. by bringing Druckmann it shows that HBO really cares about delivering a good product. By Druckmann choosing to be there shows his faith in the project. His involvement means that in the case the show goes bad Naughty Dog cannot distance itself from the project, like Bethesda did with the Doom Annihilation movie.

I may no longer have HBO since I cut the cord, but I hope this project does well.
