Netflix's Carmen Sandiego's season 4 feels like a series finale.

I won't spoil much until the jump, but this season of Carmen Sandiego works hard on tying all loose ends as if it was a season finale. There is a bit of a love letter to the 90s toon in the music. Just like the Choose your Adventure styled special had some love to the Rockapella theme song, the music in some episodes has bits reminiscent of the 90s theme song. This season has Carmen on a race against the clock as she tries to stop VILE from accessing a lost cache of stolen treasures belonging to the founders of VILE.
The season tries to tie everything up.  The secret of Carmen's past is solved, sadly, most of the important stuff happens off-screen and we don't get to see Carmen's first encounter with her mother. She finds out the truth, but we do not.

VILE as we know it is destroyed by Carmen and ACME. This is important since it means that a NEW VERSION of VILE could emerge.

Zack and Ivy officially join ACME. Carmen ends up breaking the team and nudges Zack and Ivy to join ACME.

We had a glimpse of "Evil Criminal Mastermind Carmen Sandiego" when VILE brainwashed her and "turned her evil". She was deliciously evil and ruthless!
Crackle used the ACME device that restored his memories on her and the show made it seem like her dark side could return.

The series ended with Carmen working solo and capturing rogue VILE Operatives as a sort of vigilante.

I'm not fond of the whole brainwashing thing for her, but it leaves possibilities for future Carmen becoming bored of being nice and her empathy slowly eroding as she becomes the VILE Leader she is known as in the gameshow, videogames, and 90s toon. I have to wonder if Netflix will have the balls to have a show with EVIL Carmen as Zack, Ivy, Jules, and Devinaux have to stop her capers. Shadowsan kicking the bucket could be the spark that brings back Evil Carmen...

If this was indeed, the series finale, I must applaud it. It worked as a different take on the mythos, but at the same time it was respectful of the source material. The people involved in making this show were focused on making A GOOD CARMEN SANDIEGO SHOW as their main priority. They weren't trying to make the wokest show ever that happened to have Carmen Sandiego's characters in it.
