They are doing limited releases imitating Disney Vault. For those of you too young here's the thing Disney releases movies every once in awhile for a limited time and then they stopped producing them in order to create some artificial Rarity. This is called the Vault. back in the VHS days you have to get the movie as soon as it got released on VHS because after a little while you would never see it again. That's one of the reasons why old VHS Disney movies are worth a lot... and one of the reasons why the Song of the South is one of the most expensive Disney movies to own. The other reason is that the movie will never come out of the Vault again due to the insensitive racial issues in it.
So Nintendo is doing something similar to Disney and their newest member is Super Mario 3D All Stars. This game will be available for a limited time and then it'll vanish. Massive dick move that promotes scalping...
"BuT iT's AvAiLaBlE dIgItAlLy"
That's on a limited time window as well you dumb dumb!
Physical copies are going to be already scarce... add a limited digital release window and we have one huge mess in our hands.
Despite Nintendo's shady release strategy, the All-star line-up is:
Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy. I have to admit that it's a decent lineup, but I'd be more excited if we could get a Legend of Zelda All-stars series...
