They are going to eliminate physical media for movies and games in 2024. That's literally 50% of the reasons I go to Best Buy. The other reason is that they're one of the few retailers that carry Super7 Ultimates and NECA stuff...
The end of gaming and movies as we know it is at hand. The industry is pushing super hard into digital, because they're 100% in control. They can revoke the license at any time and you lost your access to the game you paid for. Same thing happens with movies. What's worse is that they can edit your movies... for example, Sam Raimi's Spider-Man has a line that is "problematic" in current year.
Well, Digital releases of the movie could have that line removed or altered to fit something "not problematic". Movies shouldn't be messed with after theatrical release. Digital releases can be tampered with and you have no choice. Without physical releases, controversial movies can fade out... I mean, even with physical releases some movies can be a pain in the ass to find, especially if they're Japanese anime... of the kind that Samuel L MOTHERFUCKING Jackson likes too! I've already talked about Drunk me spending too much money on 90s hentai. Sober me has tried to get some 90s anime as well and hasn't been lucky. With FYE gone from PR and now Best Buy eliminating physical releases, I'm stuck with Wal-Mart and their ultra bland mainstream anime selection.
