Advent calendar ICFtTC 19: The future is not set because of Bulma...

Vegeta: Pathetic... but at
Least it's not the
Lame Saiyaman...

It has been ages since I've done a DBZ figure review. Technically this is a DBXV figure. This is Trunks... the Time Patrol Leader Trunks...

Trunks is the son of  Bulma and Vegeta. He came to the past from a dystopian future in order to save Goku from heart disease and prevent the destruction caised by Doctor Gero's Androids... who are technically not androids, since they are biological in nature with enhancements originating from technology (Nanomachines?) They're modified humans.

So Future Trunks made a mess out of the timeline and angered Chronoa, the Supreme Kai of Time. In order to make ammends with Chronoa, Trunks establishes the Time Patrol and they correct inconsistencies within the timeline. This is the version of Trunks I'm reviewing.

Trunks: Why does Chronoa
Keep this scroll under her Mattress?
It says: Conception of Son Goku...

Articulation
As expected from a figure made by BANDAI in the SH FIGUARTS line, Trunks is heavily articulated. He can pull off MANY action poses. Sadly, his coat impedes a lot of his lower body articulation, DESPITE being segmented.
4.0
He-Man: Are you Mocking me, Princess Trunks?
Trunks: Not really... but I said Hey? What's going on?
He-Man: Touché...

Paint and sculpt
BANDAI excels expectations in this area. The paint job is minimal but effective, especially since most parts are molded in the appropriate color. The sculpt obviously is a great representation of the character in both normal and super saiyajin mode. The only tiny Mythic I could make is that the crotch looks mechanical because they didn't hide the engineering with an actual crotch piece. To be fair his crotch is covered by the extremely long coat and they didn't expect people to be looking at Trunks's taint. The things I have to do for y'all.
4.5
Behold the taint of Trunks.

Accessories:
1 extra normal  faceplate
1 extra SSJ faceplate
1 SSJ head
3 sets of hands (sword grip, flat, scroll grip)
Time scroll (book of end?)
Scabbard
Sword
Sword hilt to put on scabbard.
Trunks: What do you mean this sword isn't broken?

The sword hilt is a genius move to prevent breakage of the actual swprd in the rare case of a shelf dive.
For a Dragon ball figure, he feels a bit bare bones.
5.0
Vegeta: And that's my son...
The Rock: It doesn't matter what his name is!!
Vegeta: Yup, that's my son, Jabroni.
The Rock: Wait, you named your son, Jabroni?
Trunks: The Rock addressed me as Jabroni...

Overall
Time Patrol Trunks gets a 4.5 as his final score. He was very close to be perfect but some minor nitpicks ruined it for me. Normally I would have preferred a DBZ canonical version of Trunks, but this figure has a little bit of appeal.
Wait... I reviewed a post-DBZ Trunks and...

OK, now I can go to sleep in peace... or work, I keep forgetting.
